Hi guys, At last I`m going to get my brother in law behind the G25 and give him a crack at rf2. Been talking about him having a shot for ages but just never got round to it. Anyway, I`m wondering what would be a good car/track combo to let him loose on? What do you guys think would be good for a rf2 noob to try on his first go...? Thoughts please...
On his first try? That would probably make him hate rf2/simracing after the first 295 crashes on lap 1 Something awesome but also something easy I'd say, Croft is a perfect track for trying out and be amazed. I guess a GT car would do a better job then a open wheeler as it gives more instant gratification and the replays looks way better then for example the tiny dinky toy the F3 looks like in a replay.
Try the Renault Formula 3.5 2014 car at Silverstone - brilliant combination. Set time to 0800 and HDR on for some lovely lighting.
Megane @ Silverstone National (or is it International? the short one!), whack the TC & ABS on as he's a n00b and let him have at it! Easy enough car & track to get to grips with everything. Clio @ Croft, as above a good entry car and the track will make for good visuals plus gives him a FWD perspective. Skippy @ Lime Rock, then when he's turned a few laps and bemoans how easy the "game" is, chuck him in this at there with no Aids and see how he fares
EVE F3 at Spa historic Formula Renault 3.5 2014 at Interlagos Indycars at Mills Skip Barber at Lime Rock 2.0
Depends on what he's interested in. Keep the track simple (Lime Rock). Historic F3 or Clio Cup or Corvette street car or Nissan 370Z are all straight-forward to drive with default settings. If he's a more advanced driver, then Formula Renault 3.5 or Celica GTO. Poznan as second track choice as it is more raceable than Croft.
Ok, some good possibilities here chaps so thanks. He`s actually a former driving instructor and tester so he knows how to drive ok but has never driven any form of sim before. He`s also a flight simmer... I`ll have a wee think about the above options and pick one for him Anymore suggestions please post them up. Cheers.
66 Spark f1 at the old spa, some friends of mine all said they felt fear roaring around the first few laps as did I.. frightening!!
Megane gives good action. Now just pick a beautiful track that he can learn easy first few laps. Dont forget the kart session at Quebec!
Clio at Lime Rock Park. I've tried various combos letting my mates drive and this is always the favourite for someone new to it. Like Denstjiro said, if they can't keep it on the track they won't enjoy it. Usually from there the F3's or the Meganes at Monza 66, or Silverstone National Layout are a good hit too.
If he likes open wheelers, then Renault 3.5's or Formula 2 at Silverstone or Portugal. If he likes tin tops then Renault Megane at pretty much wherever
Depends what turns him on tj lol p I would say give him 3 cars 3 laps each to compare Tintop, Modern OW, Historic OW Skippy @Lime Rock F3 Eve @Monza NSX @Longford Preview HDR Night does not have to be fast laps just a cruise for the scenery P.S. Main thing is he has a good drivers neutral setup for the circuits. For mine little Evie shows the best in rF2 feel.
