I just installed a new video card, and wanted to test it on RF2, but I can't run config, or start rfactor2, it says make sure the files are in the core folder, and, they are not. How does this happen? and what are my options for fixing this?

    Anti virus?
Have you tried verifying the install?
Right button on rf2 in steam and open properties. In the second tab you will find it.

I did verify it, no problems as far as I could tell, and I have Avast anti virus. I.looked in the core folder, and neither file is there. Very strange...

    NOW Solved
I have the same problem today with missing RF2config.exe and game will not start
AMD driver update yesterday might be something there.
I have two installs of RF2 DX9 & DX 11 config .exe gone from both.
After verify files the config.exe file is still not found and game still will not start.
Now have this message on launch and even with OK gane will not start rf2 error.JPG

Only windows defender as anti virus

    Solved.
Weird mismatch between Launcher and game EXE. Game EXE set to run as administrator but launcher EXE was not.
Reset for Launcher and game EXE to run as administrator. Game started ok and recheck for config.exe found file in BIN32 folder set it ti run as administrator as well all good again.

Not sure what set this all off can nly guess AMD driver update.

I will have to try that, thanks!! I was able to launch ( in Steam ), I did not get that message. I had problems launching config, and also starting the game. It said config.exe not found, and rf2.exe not found.

Those files don't live in Core, they live in Bin32 and Bin64.

    Interesting find whitmore :)

It is just that the rf2 error message said make sure they are in the core. Go figure?

Yeah, old error message I'd say. They were in Core at one point.

I'm using Win 7, and up until this afternoon, I hadn't updated in a few months. By the way, i couldn't load that page, it says "The requested page could not be found."

So, what's the best way to go about that? If i choose uninstall in steam, will i lose all of my tracks and cars? Or just the core files?

Edit: Solved, it was my Comodo firewall blocking those files, all is well now. Thanks for all of the help.
