What does the Sync option do? I have mine on None. Just wondering if changing it to software, GPU or video would help my FPS.

    sync is virtical sync.

Vertical Sync (VSync) - An option which forces the game to match the framerate to the refresh rate of the monitor and graphics card.

The frame rate you are getting has to be at or above your monitors refresh rate or slowdowns and other crap will happen. Also, turn off vsync if you start to experience controller lag or other issues. Vsync is great though as it gets rig of screen tearing and makes the images more fluid.

software, gpu, and video settings are just different ways of implementing vertical sync
