rF2 Build 218, Internals Plugin v5, Dev Mode 218 released

I did a fresh install and got the same "rfactor2 stopped working" after installing my plugins. Turned out it was the rf2 pedal overlay plugin which is known to be not compatible anymore and crashes rf2 due to the changed plugin interface in build 218.

 

I have been CTD after leaving online. Not sure if that is mentioned here or not. I am running trackmap plugin. Regardless, it's good to see ISI working on better HUD. I hope they are not done. Having modders fill in gaps is great but also introduces more things that can go wrong. Perhaps if ISI isn't going to do some core things themselves then perhaps they should "certify" the work of those that do the work so they can test and assume support responsibility. Otherwise, we are left out in the cold or, worse, ISI can blame basically anything on plugins whether they are causing problems or not.

 

My friend reported that he still can't update with auto-updater.

Is it still broken or should it work already?

Same problem here with alt-tab during gameplay.
When I go to the desktop from within rfactor, no problems. But when I want to get back to the game, it crashes.

Strange thing is, it only happens with the MP version, not the SP and only when I am in a game session, not in the main menu.

Running windows 7 x64 on a i7 920 with a ati 7850 2gig card.

I wont pretend to know the tech stuff...but would this be a reason why SimVibe now crashes with rF2 since build 218 ?

 

I like the new filters in mod manager so I can force it show only one type of mod when I have something new to install. It makes stuff easier to find.

 

I updated just by using the Lite Installer on top on my previous installation and all work fine including SimVibe.

They said the protocol changed for pluggin which can explain the crash you meet. Perhaps if I had make a clean installation it will not work for me too?

 

Been playing with 218 -- really like it. Thank you too for the replay across three screens. I backed up my packages folder and another one as per a post earlier in this thread, uninstalled rF2 and reinstalled to this and enabled all the packages again. Worked fine for me. Been enjoying the single seaters for the first time too! Slight FPS increase for me. Only issues are a) the shadow under the cars seems to disappear far too easily, giving the impression of a "floating" car and b) in open cockpit cars, the view outside feels a bit dark. Don't know how to fix this. Also, the F3.5 cars are using DRS I noticed but I cannot find the DRS control in settings in order to map a button. Overall, great work though.

Isn't DRS called 'rear wing' in the button maps, or something like that?

They do in real life.

 

they do now, but the version we have didn't have it (at least, that is how I understood in the past). Also, I haven't seen any of the AI's ever use it ingame so I don't think it has it.

FISI does have it however, that I'm sure off (Marussia as well btw)

What year is the rF2 FR3.5 based on? I know the real series had DRS in 2012 too.

I must admit it's not a series I watch, nor have I spent much time with this car in rF2.

 

But not 2010. The car in rF2 is from 2010.

 

Hopefully the continuing relationship with Renault will bring a newer version.

 

I saw the AI use it this afternoon at Sebring.
