    To answer in 2 parts:
    • I think the reverb was disabled with the new sound engine, but I never tried playing with the json settings to see if it was more muted instead.
    • It certainly added something, but most of the time it added too much, sounded pretty ugly and without context, and didn't have any effect when not driving the car. (Trackside etc). The new engine has large-scale reverb effects which are good for spectating, I don't know if there's yet any short distance reverb when in the car (harder to quickly check without parameters to turn up to 11) but if it gets added in line with the rest of the new engine it should be good. IMO the digital nature of the old effect was bad more often than good.

Unfortunately yes. That's rfactor 2 for you. One step forward two steps back. Notice the the instance the new sound system was released.

I think the sound improvements are beyond any doubt, those who compare rfactor with iracing make me laugh...

only those without the new sounds, or third-party mods, are heard badly, the official ones with the new sounds sound great in my opinion

well, it was not the sound of anger precisely what I was referring to, hahahaha, remember that an employee is one thing and the guidelines given by the company are quite different, do not think that the employee does what he wants, there are sound experts to bore regardless of where they come from

Have you considered that the current sounds in rF2 are actually W.I.P.?
    • S397 recently changed to a new sound system (one that is much better, imo)
    • It's said to be the same one used in iRacing
    • Only some of the cars have been updated to work as intended
    • Such changes take time
The external audio is massively improved already but, the effects and sound levels in-car are far from ideal, in some cases. That's why the Legacy audio settings are offered although, I'm not sure that covers all cases, especially with ISI & mod content.
