REQUEST: FFB thread

I would like ISI to define the recommended profiler settings for each of the wheels supported by the game. A picture of the profiler should be enough for G27 but maybe other wheels require more pictures.

If we're strictly talking about wheel driver profilers settings then it's not a bad idea, although I think the community provides this info already, but I'll see if I can drum up something by asking testers, and maybe throw up a quick Steam Guide.

We need to make sure though that people know this is "recommended" and not written in stone, that's my main concern with something like this. If someone wants to run some spring or damping in their wheel's profiler, we need to let users adjust this based on personal taste too.

Yes, I am referring to external profiles.

The ingame ones are applied after detecting the device as has been said.

I'm not sure if it's due to a lack of knowledge or simply by choice. They're just feeding each wheel the same feedback more or less, and the wheels will give different results. How could you possibly adjust it after that point and say definitively that it's more realistic one way or the other? Especially if the feedback is never quite 100% accurate due to hardware limitations.

I'd be very interested to hear your theoretical procedure to adjust things.

My last statement was largely about limitations in hardware. If you think about the max rotational speed of the G25 wheel compared to a Bodnar, you have vastly different capacities. So, 50% of FFB strength on a G25 will be much slower than 50% of FFB strength on the Bodnar. With the Accuforce it's a similar thing, and i control that speed by adjusting the STS and resistance settings, i mostly try to slow the wheel down from it's default settings with the STS, while still maintaining the feeling of weight behind the wheel by using the resistance settings.

This is how I think that a FFB device should be tested to determine its accuracy.

I have made some changes to the text in order to make several things easier to understand.
So far I haven't received any feedback about it. I though that some of you might be interested in verifying the calibration of your FFB devices. I am also sure that within the community some of you have the knowledged I lack to do the programming and communication work involved in the FFB calibration verification procedure.

If someone wants to help me in this I would really appreciate it!
