Still not feeling too hot (been sick), but well enough to use something other than my phone. :)

We're very happy to bring the Renault Clio 197 to v1.63. This update brings wet weather tires (in all cars since the Brabham release in February) properly into the Clio, along with changes to the contact patch model and various other physics tweaks.

    Download: 140MB

This update does fix the tire crash (with this car only) that some people experienced after crashing into barriers. Apparently, sim racers don't crash enough to help us figure this one out, so it took a while. :)

Clio Cup v1.63 changelog (from v1.51):
CPM enabled tyres, including all latest wet weather parameters.
    Slightly stiffened chassis.
Slight aero correction (forward balance, reducing H/S understeer).
    Minor ARB tweak.
Minor increase in rear unsprung masses.
    Minor headlight illumination tweak.
    AI correlation tweaks.
    New shaders.
    Some visual fixes.

Thank you ISI. Get well soon Tim!
You need someone to test crash physics? I can do, have a lot of experience. :D

CPM has made this even better than it was. Now I need to go play with the AI...

AI Correlation Tweaks...what tires are the AI using? Or did they get a hp boost or something!? Who can do a sub 1:57 at Portugal GT like the AI can? They seem very uncorrelated to human capabilities to me, so far.

I am also disappointed that the shift lights problem that was revealed within hours of the last update remains not fixed. It doesn't SEEM to affect the engine but is a major graphical distraction/annoyance. Who wants to see the over-rev lights come on at almost every shift, even when your foot is 100% off the throttle??

On the good news front, the new tire model and physics seem more natural and authentic...responses and reactions more like a malleable, made of normal rubber tire is underfoot.

This has helped to reveal one long-standing issue for me, though. I wish we had a FFB balance adjustment. The road feel and curbs and so on are all perfect. The forces from lateral stress on the tire are much too soft in relative terms. This lateral forces FFB is what AC has always done so well right from the outset (it's about the only thing it does better from my perspective, but that's for another conversation). Please let's have a few sliders so we can adjust these independently. Someone else may prefer, or some other hardware may need the opposite re-balancing. You just can't feel what the tire is doing during extreme cornering through the FFB enough. On screen the car is reacting authentically, but you have to rely too much on visual and audio feedback to respond to modulate and manage your inputs/the car's behaviour.

It's even worse on the new Camaro, which like the Clio is a big improvement overall. But there is no way the back end of that car is that "light" in reality. If the car is reacting authentically, and it's that much of a handful to apply any throttle coming out of a corner (it feels to me like what the Cobra should feel like), then we need a firmer signal coming through the wheel to help us.

Thanks ISI. These are great fun at rotating all the Lime Rock tracks as well as Sebring short and with maybe even some Fiat 500s thrown into the mix (specced to match the Clio laptimes as closely as possible).

Actually these are awesome on so many tracks, I shouldn't have given Lime Rock so much credit.

Can't wait to try these new Clios soon.

Did a quick 10 lap race with AI last night at Mills. I'd say it's a nice improvement over the older version. The new CPM definitely makes the little difference that 'fills in' some of the feedback given through the FFB.

Disconnected front ARB, increased rear tire pressure, some rear toe-out, and the car was pretty good.
