Released Released | BMW M4 Class 1 2021

I just tried out this new car and it's quite fun. Can we petition Mercedes and Audi to step up and supply similar info to S397 to make their versions for these rules? :D

In car setup, I noticed that you can't refuel during a pit stop. I'm not very familiar with DTM, so maybe they don't. Also, you can't change the boost settings in setup or on track. I thought this car had a turbocharged engine, so I'm surprised that's not adjustable.

There is only one dry and one wet tire compound available, but I'm surprised you can run them interchangeably on the front and rear.

For those that want to get a sound notification of when DRS is available (in race), you can use @Lazza drsshiftbeeps plugin: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/drsshiftbeeps.61555/

I see we have visible crumple damage on the body panels, that should make @Remco Majoor happy.

About that updated tyre model; Detaching arb still works very well (maybe a bit less). The tyre time drop off between first 2 laps and after seems bigger than before, slides are still very easy to catch (even on such a sensitive car), tyre do like to understeer a lot less though, which takes away that exploity driving and the overdriving can be done less, which is a huge plus.

@Bill Worrel ;)

very nice the bmw class 1
we need the other class 1 ""dtm and super gt ""to have fun together
it would be an excludedvisity rfactor 2 and a nice alternative to gt3

How ironic it would be if these 1 cars were the only way to get the Acura/Honda NSX & Gojira!

Regarding the DRS in Qualifying..
Are You supposed to have DRS available everywhere on the Track ?

I tried to activate DRS in qualifying in "Curva Grande" on Monza, and spun right off the track.

I would have thought that DRS only would be available in the DRS zones, like in F1.

Yes, if they are following F1 rules.

One would think using DRS ONLY on the straights will prevent that.

Watch F1 practice and Qualifying. They use it when-ever there is a straight. But during the race, then and only then is the use of DRS limited to the Zones.

This last weekend when Verstappen was opening the wing repeatedly during Q. But come to think of it..perhaps it was the opening of the wing without a car in front. Yeah, you both may be right.
So next question. I only have run the car so far at Road America. I don't know if that track has DRS zones because I almost never race DRS type races. I guess, as I have so clearly shown, that I don't know if DRS rules only apply at tracks with DRS Zones enabled by the track maker. What are the standard rF2 rules when you drive a car with DRS at non-DRS tracks?
edit: Just checked with Mr. Google and yes, at the very beginning of the DRS concept, drivers could use DRS whenever during practice and Q. But that was stopped almost immediately. So, good memory....lousy memory sorting perhaps?

After a couple of years I think. I was in an F1 league where better DRS was one of the upgrade options, and when that rule changed it made that upgrade less desirable. If I hadn't been taking part in that league maybe I would have been less confident about it.

But... it still fascinates me how matter-of-fact your post was, when you're asking someone to do something you evidently haven't done yourself. You didn't consider checking before posting?

Will you consider it next time?

From the technical specs section of the news page:
  • DRS | Practice/Quali any time – Race within 1 second of car ahead in DRS zones
So you can use it anywhere on track during practice and qualifying.

This new car is really well.made, has to be the best representation of any car in rF2. This seems to be the new standard which all cars are going to need to be redone /updated and now released at this level.
Really fun drive at Sebring in the rain.

Where can I download the BMW template from? Since my rfactor does not have a template folder, please, thank you

i had the same issue after a fresh install , I found the templates in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\workshop\content\365960 by searching for *.psd. Just made a new Templates folder and copied them over.
