Hey pleclair, don't feel down. Everyone here admires what you have accomplished. Remember just three months ago we were all despairing about the cancellation of GMT's Nordschleife. Now everyone is enjoying driving your excellent version, any criticisms are just suggestions for future development. You do not owe us anything, in fact it is the other way around.

I think this is a great idea. How much does a good IPS monitor cost in Canada? I also pledge to donate $20 for his new monitor.

No problem sir, I'd just like to say thanks to you, for the opportunity, on a Friday afternoon, to blast around such an amazing re-creation.

And to PleClair, thanks a million for that/this re-creation. I suffered one difficulty and it was addressed so quickly, quick enough to shame some large organisations...
I won't presume to individually influence you any sir but, I'll give it a go anyway. Please continue on...

Thanks heavens you're not him. You can't add a coat of shiny paint to a broken wall and say it's perfect.

pleclair you are still my favorite person when it comes to sim racing, I asked for Nordschleife for rF2, and you gave it to me.
Cant beat that... well the one who makes DRM or historX may come close.
Great job as always. Hopefully we'll see fruits of your labor soon, if not with nords, then with some other project.

I agree, I donated at the start of this project and I am very happy to donate again. I can't live without my excellent Dell UD2711 IPS monitor. The current 2713 model sells for around AU$700, so considering the Australia tax (everything is more expensive even when the exchange rate is better than US$) I am sure it could be bought fo a fair bit less in the USA.

A 24" 1920x1200 decent quality monitor is about Cdn$350. Of course you can go up from there in size, quality and cost.

Rebuild Targa up to the level pleclair is with Nords and you may well get enough donations. The advent of pay mods seems to have opened wallets in other ways as well. I think there is a (possible) thesis in that somewhere.

    Hey pleclair,

for me Nordschleife is the pinnacle of all tracks and rFactor2 is my favorite sim atm, so you can't believe how much I want to thank you for doing this and making it possible to drive the best track in the world in rF2!

Having the feeling that a lot of work was to no avail is really hard, believe me, I know what I'm talking about, for me it was several years of work, just recently :(
What you have achieved with the e version already is really really good, in fact so good it's almost impossible the improve. So even if you have the feeling right now that some of the work on g was for nothing because not everybody liking it, I'm sure not all of the work is lost, there's always something that was learned.

As close to perfection the textures are in e you probably should focus on something else for a while, for example the some small gaps between the track surface tarmac polygons and the surface polygons on the side of the track, probably occurred when smoothing the track surface. I can take some screenshots if you want help to find them.

Or just drive around on the beautiful track, the thing you have made possible for all of us and that makes us so happy!

    Keep it up!

    Cheers,
    flitzi

here is an example of what I mean with the small gaps. This is on detail level full, if of importance.

Can't install g-version, says it fails verification.. Also, where does the HDR profile go?

The BitSync version works fine here.
    HDR would go in rFactor2\UserData\player\Settings\Nordschleife_Tourist.

Personally I think v0.97e was better, though a bit dark. v0.97g is brighter, however the vegetation looks a bit cartoon-ish. A balance between the two might be the sweet spot in my opinion.

    Great work!

I mention that aswell. Much prefered the tarmac in v0.97e and the default HDR looked amazing.

Pleclair, it takes a true hero to make something as big and beautiful as this. You should be very very proud!
