It pains for me to say, but this is very much true . AC already has a 3rd party Nords by a guy called Snoopy built on a conversion from the Com8's track, looks great too. What is more sad is rfactor2 Nords is not working to well in the new Unstable rfactor build, the trees are missing.
Hi all, To me, a total newb, this track is the best thing ever, except for AI. I thought AI it was great on v1.5. Then v1.6 the AI got dumb and slow. With v1.65 I pretty much have to run a perfect line just to barely keep up with AI. Oh sure I can give AI a Honda Civic or other standard home appliance like that and beat it, but I need to practice the battle. The AI setting slider has no effect in v1.65 that I can tell... or beat. So, if anyone gets in touch with Pleclair, I'd like to hire him to "fix" AI in v1.65 so I can vary it, even if it means a 'special edition' for slow-pokes like me. Cheers, JR PS: does the start 'horn', tree or whatever its called work for anyone with this track? I have to watch the AI cars brake lights to know when to go.
Good to see he didn't quit his passion all together and is still at it. Have to agree with Marc, I hope he doesn't fall flat again.
This isn't Nazi Germany.. I am sure you can link to another sim's forums without a perma ban, semi-perma ban or even anyone complaining.
Got it!!! Looks like both AC and RF2 lost the possibility of having an almost flawless free Nordschleife....
As several people over at the AC forum already have pointed out to him, he cannot release that track legally. Although I support Pleclair in his decision to leave this version and rF2, I really have a hard time seeing what on earth is the point with that other track?
Is it necessary to have the source 3dmax files to continue working on this track? Or is it enough to have the rfcmp/mas files?
I'm happy too Pleclair is continuing building tracks (even though it's not for rF2) but have also hard time understanding what is the point on building from something which can't be released for public use. Does he have some sort of special agreement with SimBin allowing him to do this? On the other hand if this is solely a hobby and for improving his skills then why not. Downside he won't be getting much feedback/publicity from his work.
Given what happened here, that is likely a good thing. Maybe that's why he is doing what he is doing? Unfortunately his desire to eventually get hired as a professional in this area will be hurt by his choice of converting the very track that caused its creators to issue the legality statement.
Possible i think, but it would be a lot of work. I think peclair did the same when he took com8's rF1 version
Yep, feedback from Internet can sometimes be quite harsh. But it's inevitable and one just needs to learn how to handle it. That sucks. As it seems Nords is so important to him then hopefully he'll reconsider continuing his work with his rF2 version. It would make sense now that 64-bits may be around the corner. And if the road surface mesh is too inaccurate for him then hopefully he'd be able to find some better data and maybe build the whole thing from the scratch. It's something which he'll need to learn sooner or later anyway. Well to be honest I think he should try to create some small track first before doing it with the Nords. Just my two cents.
I could take good converted Nords any day. There's plenty of places where ppl can publish stuff freely. And I'm not person who would snitch that kind of stuff.
Need to have 3dsmax files to continue. Or reimport from com8 version and do it from scratch from com8 version, I'll try when 64bits comes out, just for fun.
