If the engine, which is the core code base of a sim, is Madness, that comes from Slightly Mad Studios and is going to be similar to PC2 rather than rF2.

Is not it possible that the graphics engine is that of PC2, but that the physical engine is that of rF2 ?

I do not know anything about it !

By that logic Grand Tour Game should be similar to rF2 because it uses ISI gMotor 2 engine?

They probably didn't want to spend 4 years just for the UI to use the RF2 engine :p

PC2 engine is based on PC1, which in turn is based on Simbin games, which in turn used rF1 engine. So I don't see any way they can go backwards with this move really.

ok, my error. I always thought they built their own base after GTR2. As you may guess, I've never looked at the PC1 or 2 or even the AC based sims. Not enough time over the years..

It does indeed, that interview is great, Renato comes across as a man with a massive passion for what he does (just like Aris & Marcel) and nothing will stop him from driving (pun intended) forward with his own vision of what a Racing Sim should be.

These are very exciting times to be a Sim Racer and I'm lapping it all up (when I get the time to Race that is!).

    I think for future
rf2 will be the only simulation open to modders

    Good news for us

Depends how you see it. Certainly a selling point for rF2 and AC. But modding has driven not only sim racing but gaming as a whole forward with some very creative and talented minds. My gaming-(life) wouldn't be what it is, if it wasn't for modding.

One note from the interview with Renato: No further DLC is planned for rF2. I totally understand but I'm sad about it

I'm so thankful they didn't go with the rF2 engine.

Will be nice to have a secondary sim again
    ( as well as Rfactor2 )

I’ll not jump into A2 early I’ll await reviews & first few updates etc before I decide screenshots look nice as they always do

Do you mean graphics engine, not physics engine, right ?

Unless one goes with the other.

Graphics engine of rF2 is not bad either. Not very good for replays and screenshots though. But real time thats where it is at.

Both. In the RD interview it comes to light that S397 was hamstringing Reiza by only showing them bits and pieces of code, and then only on a "need-to-know" basis.

The new Automobilista will not use the engine physics of rF2 which is IMO the very best realisc physics engine in a sim :

I would not buy Automibilista 2.

I stopped for a long time to "collect" the sim/simcade/mods.

I favor the most realistic sim (rF2), associated with the most realistic cars.

Just fired up PC2 today to check it out again and it's night and days compared to rF2. Considering that Reiza started Octobre last year I wouldn't expect miracles for the first release. If they really need to work on stuff like AI and all the stuff that can't be simply transfered, then I stay rather sceptical knowing how long it took them to get AMS where it is. Maybe at the later date, as they have a 3 year plan it will be at a good state, but I don't think it will be what people dream of it.
