Hello to everyone, i was trying to understand the information in the .RCD file. By default when you import your .DDS in a simple method (putting the dds file in an existing skin folder and the CREATE in game , the RCD file contain this informations: Code: //[[gMa1.002f (c)2016 ]] [[ ]] GT3 { Castrol01 { Team = CastrolTeam Component = Callaway_Corvette_GT3_2017 Skin = alt_46.dds VehFile = ALLIGNTONB13FC4F2.VEH Description = CallawayCastrolTeam Number = 888 } } I saw in another .RCD file than more informations was added: Code: Aggression = 48.44 Speed = 88.02 QualifySpeed = 85.42 WetSpeed = 86.98 StartSkill = 86.98 Crash = 12.50 CompletedLaps = 89.58 MinRacingSkill = 90.19 Composure = 77.60 Are those information something to do in case the car is used by AI ? SKIN PROBLEM SOLVED: SOLUTION BELOW To solve your problem or just to increase your knowledge about the game, here is my solution for the "unknown" skin solution "In each RCD file there is this line: VehFile = ALLIGNTONB13FC4F2.VEH The series of letters and numbers before the .VEH is corresponding to a specific car. This series of letters and numbers change on each car every time rFactor2 receive an update. So this is why some skins works and others don´t Where how do we get this series of letters and numbers? Easy, just run the game, choose a car, click on TUNING. Once the car appear click on CREATE. Exit the game and go to : steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData\player\Settings\Car Model Folder. And in it a folder have created with a numbers and letters series. Add at the end of the series .VEH and your done.
Yes. You can set these also from within the game if you click on “AI EDIT“ PS: Beyond that you can also change a lot of the VEH file's parameters, e.g. put your skin into a new category or add a new class (filter).
Most of the parameters are more or less self explanatory. However, you can find additional information on the RCD files in some places, also here in this forum, e.g. https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/rcd-talent-file.52996/ & https://pastebin.com/u1HfmdpV Back in the glorious days of GTR2 and Race07 there was also a Talent Editor that had some explanation on the settings. Don't know if that is still available somewhere!? Regarding the VEH related entries, I know that the following can be set with the RCD too (sample, classes are separated by space, category by comma): Code: Classes = Skip_Barber Skip_Barber_Regional Category = SkipBarber 2013, Custom Skin
Thanx too for the links. Classes and Category are important if you want to create a package which contains two different mods in one competition e.g. the old BTCC and the new NGTC BTCC cars. Normally they will ranked as multiclass (Crewchief says you're first even though you're really in 4th position). But if you add a class information to each car, it works.
Thank you guys for the support .....I think if we can use this thread to add all the informations regarding the .RCD file and its possibilty and how this work i can update the first post when we get all and keep this pined as a good tutorial ...........
That's a good idea. I'm still working on my first skin package for the GT3 cars and it's also my first time to work with .RCD files.
I have been trying to use these but they can be frustrating sometimes especially if you want the speed etc parameters to work it seems if you add classes to the rcd these parameters don’t work. The other annoying one is the naming you can not have two skin folders with the same driver name which is frustrating if you want to do multiple seasons of skins Hopefully 397 will give this side of the game some attention Also I have noticed that crew chief seems to use the first name as the last name of the driver not sure if this is a crew chief thing or rcd thing but drivers names in veh files are ok
I'm using a name combined of team, number and season/event to creating different season skin folders (e.g. Manthey911_VLN18 and Manthey911_24h18) and it works.
No, it's the folder name and the descripion of the skin (will be displayed in the car selection area). I think, the driver name is only important if the car is driven by KI.
I try to understand it but, i´m missing something: https://www.racedepartment.com/threads/liveries-skins.175350/post-3070217
if you have another file with the same name it will not come out, even if one is in porsche, and another bmw
