I have the r480 with 12 and while it's not a juggernaut, the recent dx11 updates have made it more than capable.
Nvidia is generally speaking better for rF2, but the 3 GB VRAM might get a bit limited in the future. I think if you put 30 GT3 cars on Matsusaka you are pretty close to the 3 GB floor, so it's a difficult call. If it wasn't for the VRAM, I would pick Nvidia for sure for rF2.
rF2 has always been better with NVIDIA. RX570 and GTX1060 3Gb offer a very similar performance in the vast majority of games (a little better for NVIDIA) but in rF2 this difference could be 20% or 30%, although it is difficult to know without a direct comparison. Maybe some user with a GTX1060 could make a Benchmark to compare. @Hmatty https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/rfactor-2-dx11-benchmark.57463/ As the owner of an RX570 if I can tell you that the current performance on DX11 is pretty bad. If you are going to play at 1080p/60 FPS you will need to adjust/deactivate some options, if your intention is to play at higher resolution or at a higher refresh rate, better go for a GTX1070 or higher.
i forgot to post my specs cpu ryzen 5 1600 mobo asus b350 prime plus memory 2x4 giga corsair @2666 ddr4 dual chanel monitor lg 23 freesync psu corsair 750 watt so isnt rx 580 better cause of freesync? or i should go for 1060 6 giga at any cost cause rf2 play better with nvidia ?
What frequency does the monitor have? 60Hz? 144Hz? To play 1080p / 60 FPS and high quality, either of them should be enough. Maybe the 1060 will allow you to play the max and with the RX580 you have to lower some adjustment, but not much. If the performance was equal to the DX9 version, I would say that the RX570 is enough even to play at 144FPS and a high quality, but currently is not the case and we will not know if there will be improvements in the engine in the future. From my experience with freesync I would say that it is 100% recommended. If you have 1060 drops below 60FPS you will have stuttering. With Freesync these drops are imperceptible and the feeling is to constantly maintain the 60FPS.
Your monitor can only do 75 Hz, so it doesn't need a monster GPU if you want to keep above 75 FPS. With Freesync you get opportunity to use vsync without added input lag, with Nvidia there will be slight input lag if you enable vsync. Personally I never use vsync anyway.
i have never use freesync so i dont know what i miss. what i care is to have the best result with rfactor 2 so ati or nvidia ?
what is your opinion for Gainward cards ? https://www.hellasphone.gr/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=43853021 300 euros for this one i read that rx 580 needs yo much power which i dont like i have good psu corsair 750 nut i dont wanna pay all my money for electricity
@mesfigas The 6 GB card is IMO a lot more future proof than 3 GB. So that card is ok, main difference between manufacturers is the looks. But performance is very similar in all GTX 1060 variants and they're all very power efficient, only one 6-pin connection.
power consuption on rx 580 4 giga and nvidia 1060 6 giga is almost the same so i ll go for rx 580 for freesync i worry for fps perfomance with rf2 but thats life i hope i dont have problems with 15 ai cars with rx 580
Not same, RX 580 is about 100 W higher than GTX 1060 (source), but go ahead, it won't make a massive difference in electricity bill.
4 Giga vram is it a bad limit ? should i give 40 more euros and buy 8 giga because is the near future O R nobody knows what is coming ? i can buy an Rx 580 4 giga for 290 euros and save money should i do it or 8 giga is a super must cause many games will use more that 4 giga in the near future lets say 1 year from now ?.
I think no current game uses more than 4 GB at 1080p resolution. I can't see it happening in near future.
What he said. Unless you run the video card @ 100% power 24/7 these 100w wont make a difference at all, $5~10 more per year for the average gamer, no big deal rF2 bad fps is more a rF2 issue than anything else. If you visit the forums more you can see lots of people with issues even using 1080ti cards so get whatever is better for you and pray for rF2 optimizations
