I think it's useable, just not very useful yet. You can lay a track (or tracks), apply textures, interactively adjust elevations(*), and interactively adjust camber & bumps(*); currently lacking ability to place objects. The website says Brendon will work on bringing all the old BTB goodies into RTB "given development time". Goodies like walls and string objects. As it stands, it's probably an acceptable tool for creating base track meshes and then refining the meshes in 3dSimEd by adding objects. Make a historic Kyalami or Mexico City, for instance. Would the budget modeler use it for making a Belle Isle? No, because BTB Pro can import the LiDAR point cloud and create a more accurate model. Would the budget modeler use it for making a banked oval? No, because BTB Pro can do it better. (*) I couldn't tell from the video if you can specify an exact amount of change. If you can't, then that's a more serious limitation.
I have had a play with it. Just can't get elevation data yet. It's set up and API is enabled but no elevation data comes through.
did you enable both APIS in your Google project? http://www.racetrackbuilder.com/Home/Google Enviado desde mi GT-I9505 mediante Tapatalk
Yes....If you dont you cant get the area you have chosen to even load. It loads but no elevation data comes in.
It would seem that you had only enabled static maps API and not elevation API. I think that could explain only obtaining maps but without elevation data. Enviado desde mi GT-I9505 mediante Tapatalk
no I have both enabled Do you have it working? If so what account did you create? I created a browser account as thats what the instructions seem to have in one image.
I got it working when I betatested it one week ago. I have no proper Internet connection atm so I can't purchase/download until next week. However, others have got it working. If you comment your problem in RTB's FB page Brendon or other users will be glad to help. Enviado desde mi GT-I9505 mediante Tapatalk
Hy, yesterday i had the same problem, there was no elev data on my testtrack. On my Google api webpage i saw that the two api´s were accessed. When i opened it today again the elevation came really slowly but seems so stuck now. The testtrack was very big. Another test with a small one worked immediately. Not sure what you mean by that but the answer would be yes. You can highlight a selection of polys and double the polys so selected areas can have very fine detail. If you can get the elevation data
Not quite what I mean... kind of like a photoshop blur tool where google elevation may reveal spiky terrain.
If your talking about the elevation tool in BTB then yes it has that If your talking about getting an elevation photo worked in photoshop then no I don't think it supports it . (if the elevation from google works then you shouldn't need this option)
It started immediately, but stopped at 70-80%. When i open it again nothing changes, still 70-80% Now the elev doesent work anymore, on every new track. 15% elev api contingent used today.
Maybe it's a program issue or google issue. I can imagine everyone trying to use it at the same time as it was released crashed the system
Google Earth has some high accuracy sometimes, but for some reason it doesn't always export it. Usually it's data is accurate to within 10'-20' which is not all that accurate... In America we have a website called USGS where you can download some pretty accurate topographical maps and reliefs, I think it actually has data for the whole planet. http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov/ What kind of import is his system taking? Any dwg or point cloud files?
