I don't use facebook or twitter, so I hope Tim will send the announcement to the people who signed up for the email list.
As mentioned, you don't need to be a member of twitter to receive the updates.... just register for the RSS feed of the twitter account, and you will be "in the know".
I don't see how to do that. When I click the Twitter Notify, it asks me to sign in, but I don't see any reference on this site or the twitter page about the rss feed. Can you elaborate on how to do it please?
do you have a google account? you can add http://twitter.com/rfactor2 to google reader to follow the RSS feed. This is the one I use, there are other RSS readers out there. I think this is the feed URL http://twitter.com/statuses/user_timeline/22515759.rss
Why not just subscribe to the official ISI/rFactor twitter/facebook? That's what I do and get updates in a timely manner.
Yes... but they weren't options if you aren't on twitter/facebook that's why we were trying to find alternatives.
You should follow those accounts as well, but the primary advantage of following @rFactor2Updates is bypassing stuff like retweets that you might not care about. And subscribing via SMS message is also very helpful if you still have a "dumb phone" because you don't need to have a Twitter app installed.
Why not get it right from the "horses mouth" instead of reading from a "third party"? It's quicker just reading @Rfactor2 tweets. Tim doesn't tweet that much that you won't be able to get the required information. Even if some don't get the info until a little while after it's released, have they lost anything? NO.
This service might not be for everybody (and it sounds like it's not for you), but I put it together because it's what I wish someone else would have done for me.
It's fine for you to do it. You might find yourself busy though. I would prefer it if you wrote unofficial or something somewhere.
