My advice would be to follow someone like racesimcentral on facebook, they will most likely announce the beta is avaliable. We all worry about missing the second it is avaliable but realise that the amount of time we all spend on sim racing websites, that chance is very small ;)

Or twitter... even if you don't have twitter, subscribe to the RSS feed of the tweets.

Although I don't send everything to that mailing list. :)

If you want every tidbit of news, our facebook and twitter are the place to probably go. However, you should not expect a big fanfare release for a beta... :)

I was thinking about this problem yesterday and I came up with a solution.

If you follow this account on Twitter and give it permission to send SMS messages to your phone, I'll update it ASAP after official content releases (this beta, future updates, the final release of the game, post-launch updates, etc).

And I'll only post meaningful updates so you'll know that each Tweet means you can download something good.

What is the point having an UNOFFICIAL twitter account when there is already an OFFICIAL one???

The unofficial account is only for download updates, not generic news or other content.

As such, it's better to give SMS access to the unofficial account because you won't constantly be getting updates.

I think that's going to be confusing for many people. You should also expect to have to send a lot of people in our direction when they begin asking you things and wanting you to support ISI's product.

not a big fanfare release for a beta?? The modding community made Rfactor 1 such a great game and thats why we all so eager to get or hands on a Rfactor 2 game.
wen the wait is over and the beta will get released it wil be fanfare at ISI headquarters i think!;)
the have to have a heck of a beta to even compete with 5 year old game i am affraid and hope for gods sake the people over here wil be gentle!
sorry for my english and goodluck with the beta release ISI

That's a good point, and if it becomes a problem or the unofficial account damages the ISI/rFactor brands in any way, I'll either close it down or pass the account off to you.

I'm only doing this because it's something that I wish someone else would have done for me. ;)

Just imagine the excitement of checking your phone at work and seeing an SMS message that says "v0.892 is available and it includes the Formula ISI and the remake of Toban."

Everyone is already constantly checking if the beta has come out, no point in making a big fuss about it.

Like when smoking advertisements were banned from certain places. People still bought the exact same amount of cigarettes as before, the companies just didn't have to pay for advertising costs anymore, so they made a heck of a lot more money overall. =)

I have been there. :) I know how it feels, but it is such a study in human social interactions and psychology to see it from the developer side. :D
