Noticed it today. Just like rF1. If you leave the car in gear with no clutch and press your starter key the completely separate volume "starter" sound plays and then nothing. Being in gear and trying to start while off the clutch should lurch the car forward(or reverse if you are in reverse) and then stall with a completely different dynamic sound toward a stall. Also I had the ISI formulas on and when it switched from the setup lap to the race and it reset my car's position I was in-gear and instantly unavoidably stalled. The car has no starter in it so this was annoying and unpredictable.
+1 Also turning off/on engine while pitting should be implemented (at least as option). As far as I know rF/rF2 has starter only; ignition support is missing.
Another thing a simple controller.ini tweak SHOULD be able to fix. All they would need to do it implement it. They have the option for shifter hold or momentary. So why not all the relevant keys. OH.. Also having to actually HOLD the starter would be nice.
+1 This could also just be a controller.ini adjust. I don't care if it is in the GUI. I'd rather make changes in there anyway.
Also, if you hit the starter with the engine on, I'd like to hear that noise that the flywheel makes. There's a lot of little things that could make rF2 the most realistic sim, if only ISI would implement them. Starter, clutch etc. These little things would make this sim stand out from the crown the crowd of sims coming this year.
thanks guys, that´s what i tried to say in the thread i started but i couldn´t explain it that good. It would be very nice, if the clutch and the starter would work like they do in real live. Also the starter motor should start to turn the engine immediately after i push the starter button. Maybe the starting sounds should be created by the sound engine and not be played from a wave file.
Why? Your request to me sounds more like a final touch than something that is needed at this very moment.
RIGHT NOW! I don't know if they will add things like this, at this point. It cant be that hard to code.. CAN'T BE!
I wonder if this could be implemented as a plugin? After all, it's not like it'd effect gameplay so it wouldn't matter if others did not have it installed.
Completely agree. Maybe post a 10 second countdown timer in the message box to start engines, or as an announcement from the track PA system. Also allow to configure to not start by default for practice and qualifying. Something in the plr for advanced users would be great. Thanks!
+1 to all the above suggestions. I was a bit surprised by the auto starting and general start up procedure. There's nothing to it.
A simulation without the disadvantages lol. ISI is the formula Formula1 it seems, so no starter Other cars they do have a starter and it fonctione. My G27 is set for it. I do not understand can be the thread of talking
I think I got quite the opposite I only play with manual gearbox, clutch. RF1 yes there was the problem but not yet had it on RF2. It surprises me no more. And I'm not saying it is not valid. Just in master formula, no starter is justified in my opinion. I understand that at this time there is no startup
For open wheelers, I agree with you, you can start the engine only while in the pitbox, that is close enough. Any other car though, really should have a proper implementation
It's not that there is no start-up as such,In the BT20 for example. When you press the starter button there is a small delay then a hollow sound file. It feels very unnatural.and way too scripted for my liking.what I am wishing for is a simulated starter motor turning while you hold the starter button in (in neutral or with the clutch in) the car to lurch on the gears when you press the starter whilst in gear. A grinding noise if you press the starter while the engine is running would be nice. needing to hold the starter button for a second or two as a cold engine rattles into life then nursing it for moment to make it run smoothly would add a lot of immersion. I'm sure the newer cars with starter motors fitted don't need nursing but I'll bet they don't have a pause before the starter motor starts to turn. If a car doesn't have a starter I don't want one modeled either.
