when running rF2 single player mode for some minutes, I got heavy stuttering and CPU load exceeds maximum (seen with CRTL-C).
A look into the taskmanager shows a 50% svhost.exe process running constantly without changing CPU load.
No matter if I return to box (ESC) or running on the road.
rF2 was running well with build 156. Never had CPU load problems.

    Any help appreciated !

    Win7 64bit, Gigabyte board, 4 GB DDR-2, Intel 2core E8400 3Ghz, ATI 6850 1 GB, 3 HD (IBM, Samsung, Maxtor)

Edit: killing the process let windows AERO disappear. after sometime the process is restarted, still with 50 % cpu load

Don't kill it... it is a Windows process.

    Thx for help!

Seems that MS windows defender always wanted to work when I was driving rF2 ...
After deactivating (program option), I can enjoy racing again.

the problem came back. running rf2, always let the svhost.exe process consume ~~ 50 % CPU
it does not make any difference, using ISI content or third party cars and tracks.

after killing the thread, rf2 keeps running normally

Seems to be the (in)famous SuperFetch problem. Well know problem and nothing to do with rF2.

Try to disable this service as it's safe and you can always undo this if needed, but I'm pretty sure it will be ok.

I don't know for your OS version: for me I just need to run "services.msc" from the search field of the Start Menu of Win7. Sort by names and search for the "SuperFetch" entry, the third colons should talk about the current status of the process (probably "Running") and you can change on next column the value to not start it automatically (Manual or better Disabled). Now reboot and check if it's better.

Typing "SuperFetch" on Google and you'll see you're not alone ;)
