Problem with VR low FPS

I'm running the league in rfactor2, which is run through the website, so I can't get into the graphical menu and can't change it.

I will upload photos of my problem.
every time I start it in VR, it is automatically set to windowed, I have 50 FPS. when I change it to fullscreen I have 90 FPS?

in your gfx config, select the drop down at the top and select the config file for VR. You are changing the desktop one. Also select your gpu not auto.
 
Ditto. I don't understand exactly your setup, but the issue is clear to me.
When running on an HMD, the system is always locked to the refresh rate of the headset, which is 90 Hz for both the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. This means that the frame rate is capped to a maximum of 90 FPS.

So when you run Windowed + VR, it seems it will take the max FPS from your monitor Hz. Edit: you have selected 50 Hz as refresh rate in rF2 config so that's why it will be 50 FPS in VR mode.

but then how is it possible when I have 50hz and give fullscreen I have 90fps?
 
How did you solve it in end? Mine has been working fine in VR for ages but recently only the menus are being limited FPS. The game seems to run 30fps in menus but as soon as I load into the track the FPS jumps to 90. I'm not sure what has changed but it's very annoying trying to get into the game. Thankfully it then runs smoothly at 90fps after that

Ah I missed that. I just tried it but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. On mine its only happening in the menus though, its like the game is being forced to 30fps just for the menu causing it to be choppy in VR, but as soon as I load into a track FPS jumps to 90 and everything is fine again. I'll need to do some more digging to see if I can sort it out
 
I unfortunately can not help you with that, i don't use VR.
I did see the Post and thought that you did miss the Screenshot.
Did you google your Problem already?
Normally there are always Reports of similar Problems in the www and in many Cases with Solutions.
 
I did and have been searching reddit. Lots of posts to optimise but none I could see that pointed to only menus. However I may have just solved it. I need to do some further testing but it looks like the latest versions of Varjo Base software that I use for VR has caused it. I just tried downgrading to a previous version as I do remember that updating a little while ago, and sure enough problem is solved.

I may just try reinstalling the latest version to see if it comes back or maybe there was some strange corruption or something... but I'm happy to stay on an older version of the base software if that is what is needed.

Very strange it only impacts the menus and not the actual game though
