Guys quick question,

if I pack a dds skin into a .mas file in settings/track/car will it be usable online?
i.e. others have the same file and we see the same skin.
(I reckon .mas skin transfer will not work)

 

Hm, what are you trying to do exactly?

I only package skins into a .mas file when I want them to be usable offline as separate cars (i.e. by the AI). To do that I have to create an update to the base mod. If I install the update, the mod is a different version than the one used online, so there will be mismatched until I uninstall my added cars.
Is there another scenario where you'd package the skins into a .mas file?

 

Unfortunately yes, I can't see custom skins in rf2, have been trying to find out why for 2 years now, and despite help from peeps on these forums I am not able to fix it.

Recently I discovered that packing a .dds file into a mas file does show the custom skin.
Imagine my delight after all this time. not that I will be able to create my own skins...paint/pack/unpack/paint/pack...but at least I am able to add the excellent skins posted in this thread and from members.

Long story short: we starting a FR35 season and I would love to use my own skin, and others to see it during the season.
so question is, will that work with mas files as well?

While the car looks good, what mod is it for? I do not recognize the mapping of that car texture?

 

if a skin has extras like windows.dds and such, the only way for others to see those painted parts with your skin is by packing everything into .mas
a single skin.dds file does not have to be .mas but the reduced file size .mas provides will help it download faster.

i feel your issue is unrelated.
