I have read a brief few bits about license issues for the Porsche cars and I also did a search for posts but turned up nothing of interest. In Assetto Corsa we have the Ruf which handles and looks like a Porsche. At least it compares favorably to the Power and Glory mod for GTR2. Then for rFactor2 we have the modern Darche from URD. Great car but....I long for the older Porsches. I can race these older cars in other sims but, I would prefer RF2 over the outdated graphics and features. What are the chances? Is anyone working on these cars? Is anyone willing to take on the challenge? Is there already a mod out there I have not heard of? Wow...240 views and not one reply. Is the Porsche thing taboo? Maybe I need to be more specific...I would like to see a mod car of the 1973 Porsche 911. Maybe it could be called a Torsche 119. The RSR could be spelled backwards also but then no one would really know for sure. I did find today in R3E there is a Ruf available now. I also discovered the Apex Modding GT3 mod includes a car that looks like a Ruf, sounds like a Torsche and drives like a mixture of the two.
There is also a Ruf in pCars. I'm waiting on the Historx team to fill this gap. I think they still plan to deliver for rF2 provided there is better modding support (not speaking for them - this is my latest understanding)
Well if you are gonna quote me then don't leave out the important bits...eh? I also said: At least it compares favorably to the Power and Glory mod for GTR2. Have you driven the Ruf in AC? Have you driven the 1973 Porsche in P&G for GTR2? On my computer and racing setup they are very similar in how they feel driving. The back end kicks out easily allowing for some very fun power slides. The Ruf of course has much more powerful engine. In real life I'm sure the cars are very different but in the racing sims they seem very similar. That was the context of my post. A car mod for rFactor2.
Hello, any Ruf and 911 ARE similar and should be. Ruf is doing exactly what Porsche would do the 911 to convert it into a sportier and/or full race car. The tamer the version, the closer it is to the original, which at the tame end is about 98+%.
I was saying that the Ruf in AC handles nothing like a Porsche. It might handle like some make believe car in some mod for some other sim, but it handles nothing like a real Porsche.
What this has anything to do with downloadable content? Nothing but a request thread. Forum mods should be hired asap this is getting too confusing nowadays. "Forum: rFactor 2 Downloadable cars, tracks and plugins Content will be announced, ask for testers, and notify of releases here."
How about compare it with real live... I think i can get some accurate data. View attachment 15654 View attachment 15655 View attachment 15656
a user-made porsche is totally possible although in theory if the porsche name is used they could be sued or something. hence darche, 799 (or w/e APEXs is), etc. for AC a couple people are making race-spec porsches, & yes it's common practice to get RUF license & make a 'rufsche' gt3 car...the AC car tho is a real car. the reason for all this: EA has an exclusive deal w/ porsche, so any use of the trademark has to be approved by them. they've done it once afaik, for microsoft in a dlc pack for one of the forza games. so theres zero chance any PC sim gets the license.
Thank goodness for Ruf! Porsche is too busy making tons of cash building trucks to pay attention to their own race and car fans who might want something more sophisticated than a game console (exclusive deal inked because of tons of cash) to simulate their 911s.
Haha, lol, it's me fathers car. I've a BMW E30 325i from 1987. Not so fast, but tons of fun. View attachment 15708
