Ultimately, we the consumer paid for them. Had I known that everything was encrypted though, I wouldn't have.

That's not how it works.
The only people that can claim to have paid for a model, are the ones who get a model, when they pay a price for that specific product.
The consumer that pays URD pays for a product, which is produced using a significant number of 'components', the model being ONE of them.
Now... you complain about the product you paid for being encrypted... what are you not getting access to?
The physics? If so... that's the product of ASMG's expertise and not part of the 3D model either...
And if it's the 3D files... I don't understand how you believe it's justified for ASMG or URD to pay EUR 300 for a model and you would get full access to it for EUR 5...
And this is even before going into the fact that ASMG or URD or whoever, after buying the model they still spend countless hours -- using their PAID expertise -- to retune, mod, optimise, etc... the 3D model... so, we are no longer talking about the original product.

I am very sorry that you're not going to steal intellectual property of Advanced Simulation Modding Group and UnitedRacingDesign that costs both teams over €5k to bring it to the URD store for only €5 for everyone including you. And yes, every next car that I'm going to do will has this type of encryption.
