Hey guys, sorry I was MIA the last couple days. My video card died on my desktop and only got a new one today. Vivemclaren, I think we used photos of the Joest one, I'd have to ask my guy, we did however make the three different rims. Sorry for the late response. Below are also new progress shots of the Porsche 962C. Modeled by Dmitriy Barishev, the Porsche 962C is now completed and Dmitriy will be starting the Mercedes C11 very soon. We decided to do that one too sooner rather then later since you all wanted that one too.
This looks greatkeep it going Petros! This mod with a good physics will be one of the best mod of rFactor 2.0!
The 962 looks great, but I'd rather see you do a specific version(Joest, Kremer or Schuppan would be more fitting to 1991). Now it looks like a blend of all the different stages the 962 went through. Nice to hear that the Mercedes C11 are in the works as well!
Hey MagnusD. The photos we used to make that body were all of the same team, we noticed that different teams had differences on their cars so we chose the one we could find the most references for and used that. Problem is I can't remember which it was because the modeler collected most of the photos. So it is in fact one version, I just have to find out which. With the comp troubles I've been having the last week, I've been trying to keep up with everything going on.
No sweat Petros! There are literally hundreds of variations of the 962, let alone the C version. So I most certainly may have not seen this particular type. (JSPC?) Anyways, the more Group C-cars the better!
Hey all, just thought I'd give you all an update on the classic cars mod. As you may have noticed there has not been any screens on any new developments. That's because we are now optimizing and preparing the models which are going in-game for the first open beta which Adubz mentioned on here a few weeks ago. The process is still quite a lengthy one but the cars are now being prepped and placed in game. What we're doing is developing all the LODs and final optimizations, then the car goes to the in-game guru Adubz who will add them in game. From there we work on physics, and once the engine file is final for each car and the physics are somewhat complete, we begin to make engine sounds. Engine sounds are done last because any changes to the engine file after the sounds are made could have impact on the sounds, so that is the last process to do. After that, the cars are given a final test and then beta is released. We'll keep you all up to date with how things are going and show you all some in-game shots here and there. Things are coming along nicely though and the open beta isn't too far off.
Yep final optimizations are going on now guys, we will have 5 cars in the open beta and they will be: 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1968 Lamborghini Miura P400 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 1978 Pontiac TransAm 1981 DMC DeLorean No race cars for now as they take a little more effort , though these cars should put up some very close racing me thinks.
