My specs: i7 ATI HD 5850 res: 1920*1080 besides that: Lowest possible graphical settings, vsync off => terrible fps lets say between 35<=>60 Tried 101,107,118,125, same result Monitorred with gpu-z and Win7 build in perf.monitor +- 50 % of CPU and GPU are used while driving CPU => ok i can understand that, i7 = overkill so 50% usage looks normal GPU => Not normal , rfactor should use almost 100% GPU, offcours thats the reason for my low fps Anyone experience the same?
You are not going to get anymore then "terrible fps" ( your words not mine ! ) It is only a 5850 ? With a i7 that's a bottleneck mismatch EXAMPLE: measley GTX570 you would have 60FPS
It should be performing much better than that, 50% on the CPU sounds good (do you have HT on?) and as you say 50% on the GPU isn't good. I've seen others complaining of poor performance finding out their power management settings for the CPU and/or the GPU being too aggressive and downclocking unexpectedly in game. However I'd expect the usage of one or the other to shoot up as it struggles to run the game at lower clocks. FWIW I have an i3-2120 dual core with HT @3.3GHz and a GTX470, if I turn HT off the game often maxes out both cores and with HT on I've seen usage hit as much as 90% on occasions. In the last build I'd done some testing with resolution and settings and at Mills in the Megane with 24 AI, back of grid following them round on a formation lap I was getting 119 fps average (lowest settings) @1920x1200. Dropping the resolution didn't improve fps which points to a CPU limitation, wish I bought a quad at the time I upgraded the builds didn't use anywhere near the amount of CPU they do now.
35-40 FPS is it but finnito ? he complains about performance but uses the Load % as maybe a reason the FPS is "terrible" it is not LOW it is CORRECT I think that is the important thing point here..........it is called BOTTLENECK
I do have HT on yes.(I'll turn it off and run some tests) My 5850 indeed is the bottleneck, but i would expect it to run closer to 100%GPU I do monitor my gpu with gpu-z, and can say it is not downclocking while driving. I remember with rfactor versions lower than 101 i had my better FPS, and no AI 'warping'. I would need a link to older versions(lower that 101), so i can test again
At the very least I would do a image of my C drive. Do a fresh windows, preferably Window 7 as it is proven to be 101% solid. Use the driver that worked well not the latest. ( your version 5850 may do better with older drivers ) Don't touch any settings other then CP quality Then do a full fresh rF2 If it works better do image of c drive Disregard all that if you have undertaken. I know Fresh OS drivers and sims is a clique but a lot of the time it works. To be honest I would not expect much more the 40FPS
Try disabling that, others have said that their CPU keeps throttling down, meaning the sim isn't running on a CPU it needs anymore. Don't disable safety shutdown, which is usually in the same area, by mistake. If your comp ever gets too hot, you WANT it to shut off.
I disabled speedstep, did a test run 1024*768 lowest quality on sebring 55 fps at start with 10 AI. My g25 was not connected when no cars visible after start(stood still after start signal) i would get 75-85 fps(vsync off) Something's wrong here, neighter my gpu or cpu are pushed. I sohould reinstall to test further, but just no time for it atm
