When racing you don't actually look at your wheel or shifter. And you should be able to distinguish buttons and keys by touch.

But this one got staff attention and exchanging of electronic messaging with important people. This thread is a great success. Today is a wonderful day!

What if you have a custom built wheel including various switches and an sli display?

If this thing would overlay the sim image over the real world image, it would be worth a try.

    Like this maybe:

However, I'm afraid we won't be seeing something like this in the next 50 years or so.

You need a VR glove and press the virtual switches on the dash/screen :)

While i see the point about not seeing your wheel, somehow many are missing an very important bonus of this:
You can have 3D, and the visual range of 3 or more monitors without the drawbacks of those things. You will not need a tripple SLI GTX 690 Setup, to run this thing perfectly smooth and in full detail. Also the problem with seams between monitors is eliminated. So for me, as i don't have the money to buy three GTX 690 and three good gaming monitors, this thing is a gift from heaven. I also don't need the space to set up three big monitors. All in all it is a much more efficient way of achieving immersion than the multiple screen or large projector principles.
One solution for not seeing your buttons could be, that you could see underneath the Rift at the very bottom. Hope you guys understand what i mean...my english sometimes isn't good enough to explain those things

Do you really look at the wheel when driving? Strange.

I look over at the shifter with all my buttons when I need to press buttons. How is that strange?

What to think of the people with cool cockpits/rigs and projection screens :p

I'm quite curious how it will feel while driving this and how you perceive depth and a sense of speed, and if people get sick easily.
