If iRacing has Nords for $14.95 usd (13.57 eur at the moment), then I would expect rF2 to be cheaper than the overtly expensive iRacing. 12 eur max (hopefully around 10)...
For me rF2, project cars 2, iRacing and Raceroom are the 'old' ugly static trees generation. AC competizione, Dirt rally 2.0, WRC 8 have the "moving" vegetation,no matter 2d/3d, the vegetation is in movement, they ondulate, move, like if it's alive, with wind...even Assetto 1 with Content Manager has the "moving vegetation"..... No matter 2d/3d or beauty 8k textures for the vegetation, the only NEW tech is adding some movement/ondulation/wave in the vegetation, no more static... Once you have seen what is it, the OLD rF2, raceroom, Project cars2, iRacing feel so outdated about the vegetation....and with no 2d/3dgrass, it's impossible to add any movement movement...and yes the vegetation has a massive impact about the immersion.... My 3 sims I play are only the new tech : Dirt rally 2, ACC and WRC8, all others feel so outdated graphically, my immersion, is not very high....Take the time to look carefully at the vegetation in ACC, Dirt rally2 and WRC8 all will be immediately clear.... My immersion come from my eyes, I play with the eyes first, no eyes, no play
I want to find that post from about 2 years ago when someone was begging for a laser scanned Nordschleife and saying money was no object and he would pay BIG dollars. It's now time
You're wrong. Raceroom has moving trees since the beginning of this simulator. I doubt you've ever played it
There was about four of five topics in the space of a couple of months mentioning nothing but Nords by the same person if I remember rightly.
I think that was me... I have moderated my comments since, but I still can pay this track for 100€, because this track fascinates me.
You are factually wrong, it's not impossible to add that to rF2, since it already exists, it's just not being used outside of dev mode: Secondly, while you are driving, I somehow doubt you would spot vegetation moving, so your argument about immersion is only true for replays and static cameras perhaps.
nice to see it's not so much outdated, why not add this and 2s/3d grass in ALL the official content, it's so immersive....it's a shame that rF2 don't have a true beauty sky with clouds, no vegetation moving, no grass, no beauty dust, no sparks.....so much things that ACC has, and ACC is the best immersion ever made .... 5 years for a UI, 10 years to add this ???
Zandvoort has 3d grass when you choose the full track detail. But I don't think it is very well done. Too repetitive. Still it is a step in the right direction. Both rFs had 3d grass, but the tall grass would intrude through the floor and stick up into the cockpit when you drove over them.(rF1 for sure, maybe on rF2.)
I think, that, because also sparks have been visible inside of the cockpit, is the reason why sparks have been removed respectively deactivated.
@stonec i m able to spot vegetation at Automobilista and is really cool easily to spot with formula cars
You are right to make reservations about this, but I still wonder if a less static environment (except the clouds which are already animated) would not be preferable. I tested Dirt Rally 2 once, and it brings a lot of graphics immersion. What is the difference between rF2 and Dirt ? A lot right : The turns in Dirt are much tighter, the car is much closer to the vegetation, there is much more vegetation and especially the average speed is much lower. I do not give a definitive opinion. By cons I do not agree with some of you on the grass, especially for VR where the "volume" is very important. And frankly have textures in 100% 2D in 2019 to represent the grass, this is not normal. That said, from the bit that I saw the 2D textures of the grass of the Nordschleife seem much more successful than the previous official tracks (to be verified).
