My installation crashes to the desktop at the end of the track loading sequence.
A verification check in STEAM say all files are valid but I see what could potentially be an issue..
No Rfactor folder is being created in the Documents folder.
Has anybody else ever experienced this?
I'd imagine that is the source of the shutdown.

There hasn't been a rfactor folder in Documents for donkeys ages IIRC, around the time when rF2 went to Steam.
A couple of files that help with diagnosing probs are a trace file and a dump file.
If rF2 crashes then it should auto create a rfmini.dmp file in ...\Steam\steamapps\common\rFactor 2\UserData folder, attach that here.
The other one is a trace file, see here on how to create => https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/how-to-create-a-trace-file.62304/ Attach that here too.

@Saabjock Does it happen with every Car and every Track?

    Thanks for the responses folks.
It (crash to desktop) was happening with every car and track selection.
The track loading would go all the way to 100% then it'd drop back to STEAM with no other warnings/indications.
Today I again ran the video configuration and then tried the Acura at Imola.
It ran fine but on trying to look at the replay, it again froze and quit to desktop.
Since the very beginning...(having now switched out four different GPUs)...I have never been able to watch smooth replays...if the overlay is visible.
It'll stutter if the mouse is moved into place to visibly display the playback interface.
If I minimize it (playback interface) the video will become glass smooth again.

Never had a documents folder since first build.
Only folder I have on C:\ is for your credentials but you don't need that anymore.
    Always been like that ?
    Memory must be going.

Stuttering with the overlay is normal.

Some people did early on when the core and data folders could be separate, might have been a UAC thing, not sure.

I think Lazza that is ISIMotor

Ever since GTL to rFactor people have had documents or no documents.

Only thing made sense to me I have always been admin when installing a fresh OS.
ISIMotor + XP, Vista, W7, W10, W11 all the same., never had documents for any of them.
In XP was easy done by making owner and user the same name.
That solved all admin issues for me.

UAC is another idea but very easy to test unlike fresh OS.

P.S. Like GTR2 and others not starting or looping.
The overwhelming advice is to set admin and compatibility mode for exe and config.exe.
That is wrong, you only need compatibility mode for EXE and Admin mode for config.exe.
Set both exe to both methods it will never start.
As well don't use XP compatibility.
Use W7 compatibility mode as it seems to me better understands memory ( ram ) ;)
