So fired up the game and there is no cars or tracks to be found. Does the game not come with anything at all, or am i doing something wrong here?

You can try to verify your game files(game properties on steam, local files), and if that doesn't work, you can always go into the workshop and download what you want. But it should automatically download a bunch of stuff.
