Few months ago, when new UI was released, i started to look at possibility of UI modifications. I did few minor personal changes, few concepts. Few days ago i decided to make UI that i will be able to share with community, and here it is.

This is modification of rFactor 2 UI. Main goal was to make it more user friendly, better looking and more smooth, but with rFactor 2 UI vibes and style.

v0.31 Changelog
  • Fixed replay screen
v0.3 Changelog
  • Updated to newest rFactor 2 build (v1125)
Bigger update coming very soon. I just wanted to share version compatible with newest build as soon as possible.

v0.2 Changelog
  • Exit button in tob bar on all screens
  • Changed Single Player box on race screen (width, car thumbnail, background)
  • Changed horizontal elements hover background color
  • Light background on car selection screen under car icon
  • Favourite servers area height fix (no scroll when less than 4 servers)
  • Changed multiplayer “more” button to “more servers”
  • Added UI version on the bottom of start screen
  • Changed layout of race screen (prepared for chat window under camera section)

0.2 update is focused mostly on features and back-end stuff. There are a lot of visual things to improve. Next update will contain permanent chatbox on “Watch” screen, and visual improvements (visuals are inconsistent at the moment, i want to make it more consistent around whole UI).

I just didn't have time to work on visuals more. Next update planned for friday.

Known bug: sometimes game starts longer than usual

Hotfix 0.1.1
Changelog:
  • Fixed not working "join" button on multiplayer server selection screen
  • Favourite servers list is now scrollable
Version Alpha 0.1.1 features:
  • Reworked most of screens, except for Replays, Community, Packages, Multiplayer server list, Competition System and pop-up messages.
  • Dark version only
  • Car/Track/Series/Servers list/Packages screen is set by default to "LIST" view
  • All horizontal scrolling elements are removed
  • Faster animations
  • And probably many many more elements i forgot now ;)

Installation

Make sure to backup rFactor 2\Bin\Bundles folder before installation!
Download UI Files (v 0.31) and extract them into rFactor2\Bin\Bundles folder (overwrite existing files).
Make sure that Car/Track/Series/Servers list/Packages screen is set to "LIST" mode ! If not, change it.

To remove this UI, you need copy your backup into rFactor2\Bin\Bundles folder.

This version is compatible with non-beta version, and was tested only on 1080p screen! If you are using any other resolution, i'm not sure if it will work correctly.
With every rFactor 2 update, this UI will be also updated, as soon as possible.

Any feedback is welcome! Feel free to leave a comment. Remember that this is really alpha version, and i'm not responsible for any bugs, but i didn't see any problem while using that.

If you want to buy me a beer, i promise, i will drink it as soon as possible.

you should join forces with @Cselt https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/better-ui.68373/
He has added chat, exit buttons etc.
Scrap that, Studio 397 themselves should immediately have started working together with "BetterUI"
But here we are, almost half a year since the launch of new UI with zero development.
I understand the lack of resource inside S397, but no excuse for lacking the flexiblity of working together with 3rd party professionals!
This UI is awesome and should be incorporated as default!!!!

Please make it usable in VR because the last one was absolutely shocking. It made me stop playing RF2 because I didn't want to be having to look 180 degrees left then right x50 just to click something. Then spend another 10 minutes trying to find the car/track I wanted to drive. Then go to set the session settings, I mean come on give us something usable. I want to load up the game and be driving what I want in 30 seconds not 30 minutes. Its a joke as it currently is if you use VR.

Running it on a 32" monitor at 4K, runs perfectly. Looks superb, thankyou.

Sorry, but you are a joke! To complain like this is a mess!
You don't have to use this alternative UI! You can use the S397 one.

If i'm right, the problem was that horizontal scrolling everywhere. I removed that, so you can try this one ;)
