    Hello,
    I have been using rFactor2 for years but just signed up to the forum.
    This is my first post so I hope I am doing it right.

    Here is my issue;
    A few years ago I managed to get the Las Vegas Exotic Racing track directly from them.
    It is in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
    It was great practice before going there for real.
    Sometime in the last year or so I believe an update to rFactor2 has broken the track.
    It loads fine and you can drive around but the track is transparent and you just see through to a background image of the desert. It is unusable in this state.
    I contacted Exotics Racing but they said due to Covid they are no longer doing the simulator, are aware of the problem but are not planning to fix it.

    I am hoping someone here will be able to figure out the problem.
    It's a fun little track and I think it would great to have in the workshop so that us virtual racers can practice and then go experience the real thing!
    They sent it to me with no strings attached so there shouldn't be any licensing issues.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

    Here are some screenshots of the problem.
    Note how you are on the track and can drive around but the middle section of the screen is see though to the background image.
    Anyone have any ideas?

    That is very interesting, There have been numerous graphic updates to tracks, the big early change being the conversion to DX11. Also new PBR/IBL shaders, a new wet weather shader(not a real problem for Vegas, one would assume.) and horizon changes. I'm sure I have forgotten some.
    Hopefully a track modder will offer to take a look, but you should also check with the Exotic guys as projects sometimes are leaked either by intent or accident. I would verify that the EXOTICS team are ok if the track should leak. If not, any work should be done with a clear understanding that this is a private exercise. Best of luck.

    You would probably have to disable the skyboxi instance in the scene file. I don't know what the actual fix is for the issue, I think the mountain peak track has the same issue.

    Well, you would probably need to get the devmode version of the track. You could search for ways to extract it, but I can't help with that. There will be a file with a .scn file extension, then you would need to search for skyboxi, but it doesn't need to be named that, so that could be an issue.

    If found the LasVegasEXR.scn file and here is the Skyboxi data;

    }
    Instance=SkyBoxi
    {
    Planes=(4) ReflectPlane=(0.000, 1.000, 0.000, 0.550)
    MeshFile=SkyBoxi.gmt CollTarget=False HATTarget=False Reflect=False

    How should I edit it?

    You can delete it, or just put // in front of the lines.
    //}
    //Instance=SkyBoxi
    //{
    //Planes=(4) ReflectPlane=(0.000, 1.000, 0.000, 0.550)
    //MeshFile=SkyBoxi.gmt CollTarget=False HATTarget=False Reflect=False
    //}
    //}

    OK, have tried a bunch of times but fail.

    - I open the "LasVegasEXR_long.mas" file with the MAS file utility and extract the "LasVegasEXR.scn" file.
    - I make the edit above (without the 1st line which I realized is an end bracket from the previous Instance and is required) and save the file.
    - I place the edited file back in the .mas file and save it and put it back in the "Installed" folder.
    Now I have "LasVegasEXR_long.mas" OLD and NEW versions.

    If I put the OLD file in the folder, the track shows up but is broken like before.
    If I put the NEW file in the folder, the track does not show up.

    Is there some kind of signatures or something on these files?

    Yes, it doesn't work that way.
