are we still going to have to launch the game twice, after new UI update?
you know, press play then rf2 launcher comes up, then click again to enter simulation. would be nice to do it all inside sim.

An extra click to get into the game? Ouch!

It's convenient to have the two stage loading if your editing any files within rf2 and you need to restart rf2 after any edits to take affect otherwise it's got go through the whole Steam workshop synchronisation process again. It can be very time consuming if you doing a lot of edits. I hope they leave it as is but I am looking forward to the new UI.

It is already possible to go straight from Windows to rFactor, either single or multiplayer.

In my experience first steam synchronization can of course take a while, depending on time passed since last launch, size of steam updates etc. but if I restart launcher then any subsequent steam synchronization takes only few seconds.

Mainly the player.json, rcd files, I also extract skin packs and reinstall as individual skins. I don't like skin packs because any updates and the pack doesn't work any more.

Well, I guess we hope that into the future a lot of the player.json edits will be done in the UI instead, but I think @Filip makes a valid point above - we tend to see slow Launcher startup because we start it only occasionally (I usually have the Launcher sitting there while I mod files or whatever, then click devmode or single/multiplayer to check things) and so it needs to synchronise 'more'. If you close and restart the launcher every few mins it takes very little time, and if that were the game itself loading up I think you'd hardly notice.

Actually my launcher startup is much much faster than my game startup, albeit I don't have all that much subscribed content.

    Single-player
    Code:
    Bin64\rFactor2.exe +singleplayer +path=.
    Multi-player login straight to server
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 365960 +autojoin="<server name>" +connect=:<password>@<ip_address>:<port> +multiplayer +path=".."
