This thread is for getting answers to commonly asked questions. Post up the questions you see most often and an answer/fix. Use your own thread if you don't see the answer you were looking for, trying to keep it clean from fluff. I will edit this post to reflect the Qs and As, once I have added your Q&A please delete your post. THANKS If there are things you wish were in the new UI then click on the UI Wishlist Q: I don't like change, how do I get back to the old UI? A: Change to another beta branch in rFactor 2 properties Q: How do I get to graphics config/devmode on the the current build? A: Press play in Steam and you are presented with this dialog box Q: How do I run the game in VR? Do I need to run a different build? A: No... you just need to change it in the gfx config. NOTE: You can run rF2 in VR at any time (even if Steam VR is already started) but make sure the desktop theater option is UNCHECKED in rF2 properties Q: I want to start dev mode from a shortcut, how do I do this? A: Create a shortcut to the "rfactor2 Mod Mode.exe" which exists in the "steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64" folder. Edit the shortcut and make sure the start in folder points to "steamapps\common\rFactor 2\" Q: How do I use the ptool from a shortcut? A: Create a shortcut to the "rfactor2 Mod Mode.exe" which exists in the "steamapps\common\rFactor 2\Bin64" folder. Edit the shortcut, add +ptool after the quotes in the target and make sure the start in folder points to "steamapps\common\rFactor 2\" Q: HELP! Where has my MAS2 tool gone?! A: It hasn't gone anywhere.... it still exists in the same folder it always has. Make a shortcut to it. You don't need to go to the old ui to do this. "rFactor 2\Support\Tools\" Q: Vehicle labels (tab) where are they? A: Not re-implemented yet unfortunately. Q: I can't select from all my cars and tracks?! A: It seems you have a series selected which only shows cars/tracks related to it. You need to change the "series" to "All Tracks and cars". Press "customise" Then click the series name under the word "Single Player" Press "select" on the "All Tracks & Cars" series. It may take a little while depending on how many you have installed. You can change views of this screen by pressing the little icon at the top. Q: Can you view what a HUD looks like in the New UI? A: Not yet, you have to look it up on the workshop. Q: How do I view an overlay of the pedal and wheel inputs as was the default in the old User Interface? It is not currently implemented in this BETA UI.
I recommend adding also a shortcut to the ModMgr. The ingame one is broken for me (can only uninstall rfmod, so series files, but non of the others). Also things that should be there like sorting for not installed/installed and selecting multiple items via Shift/Crtl does not work either. Also this tool can allow you to delete and official car so it forces the game to reinstall it Q: How do I make a short cut to the ModMgr? The ModMgr.exe is found in rFactor2/Bin64. Create a shortcut. Open the shortcuts properties, under Shortcut you find Target. You add at the end +path=".."
How do I even pick a car offline? The only ones I can chose are either the last car I drove or a car from a race mod. I can chose from all my tracks, but not from all my car mods. Yes, I've chosen All Cars and Tracks. Try it. Let me know how I can make this work. I'd like to give the new UI a chance, but it's tough when I can't even pick a car.
When I start rF2 it shows last car I drove, click on customise; Then click on the car: Then all cars are now in the list to select from;
I am trying to keep this thread clean of random questions. This thread is meant for a list of answers to commonly asked questions. If you want a query answered then see if I have already listed it, do a search on the forum (perhaps with a keyword) or ask in it's own thread if you can't find the answer. Thank you.
How to create a trace file in new UI....right click on rF2 in your steam library and select properties and in the Launch options add +trace=2 +traceFlush. @Woodee Is it worth mentioning in the "how to create Devmode Shortcut" to add the +trace arguments to the shortcut?
Ok I have a question regarding replays. How do I view an overlay of the pedal and wheel inputs as was the default in the old User Interface
So I have a question that I did not see above... so here it goes: How do I set different time progressing for different Sessions (Practice, Qualy, Race, etc)? In other words, how can I do Practice and Qualy in "1x" time progression, but the race in a different, let's say, "24x", time progression?
How to find what build number I am on; Go to your ....Steam/steamapps folder and you will see a file named appmanifest_365960.acf Open it with your favourite text editor and on Line 11 you will see the buildid number.
This really sucks, though. First time I was not aware, and qualy was terrible, since when I started my fast lap, the session was over......... This really need to be set on a Session by Session basis.
Please pin! Remember this thread is for ANSWERS not more questions, you can make your own thread asking those.
Well, in fact is for questions and hopefully answers. I'm joking, the target is clear, but the title may not.
