Hello guys... I've spent the whole day building my new system. Now it's done and rF2 is installed, but launcher is grayed out. Well I had not expect anything else so I simply logged in and reactivated. But nothing happened. Still grayed out, so I tried to 'allow' rF2 in firewall and anti-virus and restarted computer. It's still grayed out and now I can't reactivate anymore. I've spent many reactivations when trying to get rF2 online running when I had the "no games available" issue a few months ago...

Is it not possible to reactivate because I have a new copy of Windows 7? (my old copy was locked to old motherboard).

Well, I had 1 reactivation left but now it's wasted

just contact them (rfactor.net has a contact page), and they will reset your activations (unless they clearly see it being misused, but I think I only heard of that happening once ;) )

Keep a backup of your .rFactor folder in future.

I do, but FAQ says that I should reactivate after 'bigger' system changes.

I`m sure Tim or someone from ISI will sort you out Hedlund, I hope so.

    What system did you get?

I upgraded from Windows 7 to 8 a few months ago and didn't have to reactivate. Not sure if that counts as a big system change though.

Well I'm running triple monitors now and needed a 2nd GPU to keep some frames. I purchased my 2nd radeon 7970 but the space between the PCI slots on my old motherboard wasn't really optimum for two of those big cards... I've got overheating problems and had to buy a new better and bigger motherboard. I also bought a new PSU and a lot of noctua fans including one big tower CPU cooler

And I hope I can play rF2 again soon... Looking forward to try the new build out :D

    Sounds good Hedlund.

Hoping to go the triple screen route myself but going to have to wait a bit yet for some funds.

Hope you get sorted up soon. :)

I actually have a dual boot system win7/XP, I'm mostly using XP and rF2 is installed on that.
I'm currently waiting a new HD as current Drive is failing when it arrives I'd like to install rF2 on my Win7 OS.

Will rF2 work on either OS or will the first install become invalid or seen as an illegal Copy?

As far as I am aware you can only have one activated at a time.

So reading the above I should be good to just build an entirely new system install rfactor2 go to purchase tab and reactivate without having to contact anyone at ISI. Because the only thing coming from my old system is the Case and PSU so its not so easy for me to just jump back on the old system and change settings.
Its bye bye my old faithful Q6600 @ 3.0GHz it served me well for a long time, tough chip, I' may reserect when I have spare cae and psu.

Yes, if you have not used all your activations :)

It's not that you should, it's that you might have to. Always save it, and see if it works. It depends what Jeremy has decided to make the system portion looked at for validation

Yes, you can install on multiple machines. On the second machine onwards just install and reactivate. Though note that you can activate 5 times before you need to ask us for more, and we then will look at your systems to see if we think you are sharing your other activations with friends, etc (which isn't allowed).

    OK thanks tim.
One more question, does this mean I can run the same license on two machines, say if I want to do a LAN two simulators in the same room racing a friend. Both pcs are mine with the same windows user login name and PW, would that work? Or do I need to buy another license?

You can use the same license on both computers, but you cannot login on both of them at the same time.
So in your case you would need to use two licenses.
At least that is how it's supposed to work: http://rfactor.net/web/rf2/rf2help/
