New system Advice

I hope those are free, I am done spending, lol I strictly sim race, no shooters for me. , [emoji6]

 

They're all free, including the new 3D Mark (the one you purchased). You only have to pay if you want to run custom tests with custom gfx settings, the 2 or 3 graphics presets for all the tests can be ran for absolutely free.

 

Don't seem too bad considering the results

Yes DD I see my results, I take it as a slow dieing machine, she did me proud but the time has come to put her to rest!

 

Result 2 now with the 980! with my 920.. Physics test is low..but that should change soon

At the start on the grid FPS was 47
once the cars got to turn one while I hadn't moved it went up to 60

I did the same test yesterday with the 780, and this is from memory, I had about 35FPS at the start and once they got to turn 1 it went to about 55FPS I think...to be honest I don't remember

 

Sounds good. You should use a program called "Fraps"

 

i use fraps and did a bench mark routine yesterday, i opened the file in note pad and all i saw where just numbers in a column. I cant make sense of them
Edit**never mind i looked in the LOG file, but those numbers don't make sense

WTF ??? .4 makes a big difference? The way this looks is that I had better performance with the 780 @ 4.0. Hmmmmm

 

You sure they using the same settings ? 980 throttling or something ?

Either way you should use this for benching , stuff fraps it is okay (bandicam does better screenshot quality but...imho ) ...anyways with this you can realtime FB, Vid and Bus usage and a heap of other stuff.

Paul it is running @ PCIE-e 2.0, maybe it runs better then 780 in 3.0

 

I'd be surprised if 400 MHz can make such a substantial difference to your framerate. Something must be going on with your GPU.

 

Ok DD I will download Afterburner, I had it @ one point but never downloaded it after reinstalling my OS a while back.

i am not sure if it is running 2.0 I know my 780 was running 3.0 16x, I assumed that the 980 would also, I will check.

Luckily for me we are getting a huge snow storm so I will be home from work for a few days and my parts come today so I will have some time to test and play

 

Yeah, the thing is the game was butter smooth or the smoothies it has ever been at any start of any race in any game!

A quick run.. with everything stock

 

Above game settings on new system got me an avg of 70 fps on the grid with dips to mid 60's and once the field got to turn one while I hadn't moved fps hit 115, umm yeah that's nice! and that is a stock system, gpu temp in the upper 40s low 50s
