Released NEW! GT3 Pack - Now Available!

...Simtek vs real life vs rf2. To me, the AMG in the GT3 Pack sounds as if it was recorded in a room, it has a bit of echo it seems. Sound is muffled and washed out too. Overall, not so great.
...
Indeed echo is really noticable as if driving in the tunnel.
But S397 AMG does the good job with low rev nuances and bass.
I like rawness of Simtek sound but it is too flat, lacks depth so overall S397 is better for me.
Check the S397 video from 3:48 (turn before Carousel) to 4:10 to see what I mean. Nice sound transitions and nuances in lower revs.

If only one could get rid of that echo...
...and make sounds more raw. I agree they are too soft. It is evident in corvette video

And to me it really doesn't come down only to the equipment used, but how it's used and how the sounds are produced/engineered after recording. While S397 makes what are (IMO) perhaps the worse sounds in the racing sim market (even worse than many amateur-made mods), I bet you can give Sector 3 guys a 5 dollar mic and they would still be able to produce the best sounds in the racing sim market.

Well I guess it's subjective, to me that simtek mod lacks bass and range compared to the DLC one. The URD one is admittedly good.

Also no one is making sounds in studio. They purchase sound samples that are already recorded. All that is done in game is to edit a simple text file where you add all samples together and adjust the gain of each sample. There is no engineering really, just inputting samples that the Miles audio engine mixes together. iRacing and rF2 used to buy sounds from Greg Hill (website), which is why iRacing and rF2 F1 car sound identical. What rF2 lacks in is extra sound effects (suspension etc.), and the sound engine itself is a bit old.

The URD EGT mod provides suspension sounds, if the extra sound file is installed. Wonder why the original cars does not because its possible

Iracing has the worst sounds following by assetto corsa
I call BS on the Assetto Corsa statement
With my surround sound speakers I can hear each tire separately if they break traction
cars passing or being passed left and right.
gravel pinging in the wheel wells on the dirty tires only.
suspension squeaks, gearbox whine, brake squeal.
RF2 sound is a wall of noise, is it the car in front of you ,behind, maybe it's your car who can tell.
surround sound tech is over 40 years old
Maybe it will make it into RF2 someday.

Assetto corsa sounds has some detail !!!..... BUT
its hidden under a blanket sometimes on some cars plus some car sounds seems like they have to much gain
......or the mid range of their sound its very far.
not all cars has good sounds but this is acceptable
generally AC sounds needs some adjustments

After the announced termination of simtek I would really like S397 to focus even more on the development of more GT3 cars.
Maybe some day you might think about adding at least the R8, the 488, the M6 and the Huracan as well.
There are so many woderful GT3s appearig from all the different manufacturers (RC F, NSX, GT-R, Vantage, ... etc.) and it's obvious that here are so many guys who really like this class. Maybe my dream will still come true some day because this mod is really good but quite incomplete...you already made it have way, so come on and please finish this "little" request...

Make no mistake, they know.
Problem is the cost of licensing.
For starters I would expect that they come back and fine tune some basic stuff, like the default car engine volume as has been reported numerous times,or the cartoonish AMG dial lacking basic information like fuel consumption, fuel load (!!!), the colors of it etc.
Much as I have supported S397 for their efforts I am not totally happy with their prioritization.
Due to the popularity of the GT3 cars I would still expect that they come up with more cars in the future for car enthusiasts to choose from.

I’d expect those types of licenses only if the memebrbase grows significantly,so to the revenue gained from it.
It’s in s397s court,to attract and KEEP as many members as they can

And if modders are able to easily get around ACC's lack of official support, then rF2's already small base will shrink rapidly.

ACC show that they've got a day/night cycle & weather, but that still leaves a bunch more things to do before they can draw away from current rF2 user base:
1) Rolling starts for single player
2) A better AI than AC's
3) Smarter off-track penalty system than AC
4) Allow more than 30 cars on official tracks
5) Better than AC flag rules
6) Allow AI to be more than 100% Difficulty
7) Talent files for AI

i think same question answered by s397 a few weeks ago and you need both instalation versions that are allreay instaled
dont uninstall any of the previous version cause mods are updated automatically keeping some files from previous instalation versions
or something like that :)
cheers
