That is a good benchmark method for community comparisons but is not the only way to make sure your performance has increased.

Would it be beneficial for ISI to temporarily add in a performance monitor tool into the beta so users could "optionally" click an upload button and send some key performance metrics to the Devs for analysis. Didn't AC do this?

For rough performance checks, it's usually enough to load a fresh track with only your car, and have the AI do some laps while you sit in the cockpit and check what the framerate is doing.

Or load a race start with the same type and amount of cars, with yours in last spot.

So this is supposed to work nicely for 6xxx cards also? I always hate touching working drivers, but if there's 20% or such then I'm in...

Of course its not the only method, you can test alone in track or with other cars but you will never be able to compare with other users if you don't use the same method and that one was used by a lote of guys including guys with same GPU that OP has.

But Replay method its the only one "100%" correct. If you do one race with 20 AI with old drivers and another race with 20 AI with new drivers it will be diferent for sure and not conclusive.

Even if you run 1 lap alone before and after you won't be able to do 2 laps exactly alike

As I've posted elswhere the Replay Benchmark is not 100% correct each time as I've found Dust (Soft Particles) sometimes shows up and sometimes does'nt. This could affect results especially if the Replay file has a mass of dust/smoke in a shady area, the only way to get a 100% Benchmark is for ISI to code a proper one direct into the game that is 100% exactly the same each time it's run and for everybody.

I understand that Marc but i already tested a lot of times and the diference is never more than 2fps in more than 100fps avg. With that results I its clear to me that this way its by far the most conclusive

But does it mean I can finally turn mirrors on with my 7850OC? :)

I still have my old 7970's lying around here... Maybe I'll install them and give them a try next week. Otherwise, maybe I can get some more money for them now (if the new drivers really gives a fps boost) ;)

    So it's not 100% then ;)

I've always had mirrors on with my same card overclock

hehe yeah! thing is though whilst it may be 2fps on your system, the same replay benchmark with Soft Particles could be a lot more severe 5fps+. It is a good way and I use it too, just saying a speficially created BEnchmark Tool from ISI is the only true way of knowing.

What settings do you use in-game?

    I have everything maxed until:
shadows: medium, shadow blur: off, sun occ: yes, rain: yes, road ref: off, env ref: off, crowd: no, with 20 max visible cars

Is it not possible you for an upgrade in FPS because the driver was running rF2 with default driver settings?

Depends on the Track/Mod and how hungry they are, generally though:
    Visible Vehicles is 12
    Road Reflections High
    Env Reflections Off
    Movies Off
    Rain On
    Wind Off
    4x Antistropic
The rest on High to Full but as above depends on the Combo.

    Hi guys/gals,

I don't know about an increase in FPS (no concern to me), for me the only thing that matters is; how smooth does it look or "feel".

I went onto Lienz through my server this morning after installing just the new 14.1 beta drivers from ATi. I don't install the CCC. It's an FPS killer.

I noticed right off, as I was pulling out of the pits and driving around the track that I got zero pauses, or stutters. This was after increasing the AA from 6 to 8 in the game.

I also noticed that the real road showed up faster. Although that may have been all in my head due to the increased smoothness of game play. Drawing distance also seems to have improved and by quite a bit, adding to the smoothness factor.

Dang, the old EVE F3 even seemed to handle better. Kind of like your car running better after a good wash and wax.

Anyways, I Was in the market for an nVidia card.

Try the new drivers... remove and don't re-install the CCC just install the video drivers; you can always install the other stuff later if wanted/needed. Turn up all the settings a notch or two in the game and enjoy.

Hope this helps the ATi folks!

    Bryan

Yes it is running much smoother now, i had before sometimes small stutters.

No i had before exact the same settings in Catalyst as always. Fps gain is around 15 fps sometimes up to 20 and minimum fps is much higher now. Measured with Bandicam and Fraps.

Posted today on our league fórum and all who tested reported a (very) significant improvement in FPS and smoothness.
