[WIP] Nemuno Žiedas (Nemunas circuit)

In F3 fanatics we ran this track with the vintage formula Vees, super fun!! Thanks Sir! I snuck around the wall in turn one and drove the rest of the track, it'll be great too when it's legal!

Great idea ! I haven't driven formula Vee there yet, must be fun indeed. I have not done so many things in rF2 lately, so much things to run and do when I'll get back to more sedentary life.

I'd like to share random suggestion, I found NSX to be super good fun in "track day" layout. Just maximize cambers and minimize pressures and it is perfect.

I am glad you took a route around extended layout, it is rather intense and doubles the track length. I am just so sorry I have never reached completion of it. But there is hope. There is also hope that layout with it could be added someday by poozik0, maybe if we are still so lucky.

I downloaded it yesterday and tried it with the Porsche GT3 and my 3DOF motion system and it was one of the best sim racing experience I ever had….2h only doing hot laps

After driving Pau-Arnos and having such a great impression about it, I started thinking about this track again, which I think is a little bit similar. I would love to improve it, I also have a little dream of improving extended layout as there is little bit of creative freedom about it, and it lacks a lot of stuff.

I also found this superb vid, it is made in AC, but with this track.

Turns out there has always been LiDAR data available. I guess it is just not interesting.

Did some initial check of current model accuracy for heights. The lower part of the track is within 1meter of accuracy. But I have been shocked about up/down section. In current model the low part of up/down is almost 3meters too low for lowest place, and at highest place it is about 4 meters too high... That is huge error, and very strange because I would have guessed that it would have been within 2 meters of accuracy as I have been using isohypse data so it wasn't just guessed, however the isohypse data was in step of five meters, so going 4 meters off is within that... still it is shocking as I did drive real track myself, I have got feedback of A lot of real drivers racing there at the time, and I don't remember anyone mentioning that amplitude there might be off.

Pointcloud generated low res mesh on the original model. Green is within 1meter accuracy. blue and purple off and way off (too high in current model), orange is too low in current model...

Sadly, you know what this means...

Work is going on, and I am very motivated. Maybe I will finally handle track creation. Still much to learn, but going well so far. I think rF2 tracks, good tracks in general, are underrated. Simply better than in AC... I am looking forward to make yet another underrated track.

I am doing something foolish. I am pretty much taking over whole thing, old tracks, and barely used too, it is turning into large complex. I will also add little bit fantasy twist to it and include entrance to track as one more layout... just because. I will also do drift track that is inside the circuit, it is unfinished IRL, so I will complete it, just because.

Track is in game already, testing roads, fixing what is needed.

There is one thing which I don't know how to do... I am modeling main circuit as it is now, adding the "extended layout" as it could have been now, but it wasn't (it is a bit like mini Nordschleife attached to the track). I don't know what to do with the 60s track, which is public road right next to current circuit. I might just do it like it is now. But on the other hand I could do it more like it was in 60s. In 60s there were no guardrails, they used concrete bollards, there was at least one part of the road made out of cobblestones, few turns were mildly different, some places were narrower.

I have found good footage right there, not in lithuanian though.

No idea of the language. If i was doing the track it would be the 60s layout, because i find them more interesting.I believe the Rf2 tracks are better than AC. But i have only ever seen a few from AC so perhaps i am being cruel?
You really have been busy, ime afraid i have slowed down just too much happening at the moment.
