    I have been trying to make it work, but every time I run it it says "Dedicated Server requires at least one other mod besides All tracks and ..." which doesn´t make sense as I´ve made a mod with limerock and skipbarber just as the guy in the tutorial I´ve seen did. I have tried lots of things I saw like moving the dedicated.exe into de the main folder and things like that but still wont work. I think the problem is the dedicated.exe doesn´t recognize the packages folder or something. Hope someone can help me.
    Sorry for my bad english btw.

    Did you open mod manager and check the Working Dir: and Packages Dir: locations are correct.
    Sometimes it defaults to Bin32 folder instead.

    P.S. So just move mod manager to the root folder.
    DOH !
    Just took me 12 years to figure that out. :D

    Yeah, the working and packages dir are correct. You mean moving modmgr from Race/Rfactor_dedicated/bin64 to Race/Rfactor_dedicated? I Will try It later, hopefully It works. Thanks for your help man.

    There’s no need to move any files…. Right click on the mod manager shortcut you have created(or should have) and in the “start in” box, remove the /bin64 bit. That should ensure that the working and packages folders are correct.

    If I remember correctly, those errors are shown because steam changed the format of the command some time ago and using the old format throws those errors, try this;

    Code:
    steamcmd +force_install_dir ../steam-rf2dedicated +login anonymous +app_update 400300 validate +quit
    Don't forget to change the install dir to suit your setup.

    EDIT: S397 guide to setting up dedicated server here => https://docs.studio-397.com/users-guide/setting-up-a-dedicated-server

    Sorry no, all I meant was.....

    rF2 packages locations are guided by the registry.
    So if you do a fresh windows and do not export and import your old registry
    when you start mod manager first time it will error because it points to the Bin32 folder where it is located.
    Moving Mod Manager to the root folder on fresh OS at least solves that situation.
    You still need to learn registry exports
    If you like me and have about 20 folders to divide content to use for alternative "Packages" folders.
    When I do fresh OS, if i did not have registry to import, I would have to browse and add all those 20 locations in Mod Manager all over again. o_O

    As well keeping simply all content in local packages is not best way of doing things.

    =======================

    Like I said it was your post about moving dedicated.exe gave me the brainstorm, just 12 years too late.
    Sometimes we overlook the most simple answer.

    =======================

    I do have over 20 locations, just upgraded to new tower with pcie5 and my sim patches partition letter needed changing to consolidate all content on one M2.
    Which reminds me ( you helpful ) lol
    I need to add all other updated locations and save the new registry from G:\ to D:\
    I would have forgotten, so again thanks :p

    =================================

    Only just this minute read your solution Goanna, thanks !
    Is better idea of course then mine as whenever you validate you would just have 2 Mod Manager.

    dur :p shortcuts, what would we do without them ! ;)

    Thanks, now that error is gone, but the "Dedicated server requires at least one mod besides All Tracks and Cars" persist. I don´t know what to do. I even tried to execute the dedicated server in the steam rfactor directory (the one I use to play) and it has the same error, which is crazy because I have even more mods installed.

    How are you starting your server, directly from the folder or via a desktop shortcut? I get that error if starting directly from the Bin64 folder....solution is to navigate to the server's /bin64 folder and right click on rFactor2 Dedicated.exe and select "Send to Desktop". Then right click on the shortcut and select properties, in the start in box remove the \bin64 reference and click apply/ok

    Not sure exactly tell the truth now :rolleyes:
    I have posted " a how you do it" with screenshots to prove it.
    I detailed the advantages ........

    Pro:
    Swapping cars and skins without leaving sessions
    Retaining all times for all cars you drive in long sessions
    Setting any grid you like
    Booting AI process is 500% better
    Setup up next room on the fly
    Behaves identical to offline, no lag or anything else.
    Better then sitting in a online room by ourself.
    Others I would be forgetting

    Con:
    None

    But I was given a cold shoulder, so ..........
    " I don't want to read all this crap" ...........etc. etc. etc.

    But ISI themselves gave me a thumb up cause they never thought of it.
    So you can all stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

    Here is a thought, how do people make a server on their gaming PC and join their mates ?
    Pretty sure it is the same concept except you make the room private and password no one else has. ;)

    P.S. Maybe since new servers is not possible? I have no clue, have not done this for maybe a few years only because I use all content in rfmods 100% now so my races are already tweaked, don't need to compare cars by having lap times saved etc. Basically already compared and swapped every car and skin in garages I would want to.
    So offline is just the same now to me, not reasons to have online steam mode.

    ( I don't subscribe content I archive it, there are no rF2 updates and if I want to check workshop I do when I am not racing ..why anyone would use all this steam app crap is beyond me, unneeded process, Anyhows... )

    But I always saw this as a huge advantage that simply no one else on sim sites had explored, it was like having a secret.
    So each time I mentioned this I got ignored or verballed. lol

    " Offline Online Mode " is copyrighted by me. lol

    Sorry for edits, not lol
    Tell me which other sim can you can do this in ? IE: swap content real time.
    None including all ISIMotor except rF2 I don't think ...I tested them all ?
    Even content manager can't pull that magic off.
    Why has it never been acknowledged if you give rF2 5% (5/100 points ) for this you must give every other sim in existence 0% LMAO .........ranted all out, feel better already :p

    @Klopeck64 can you screenshot your MAS tool when you're making the .rfmod, so we can check if that looks right?

    Are you using the MAS tool in the dedi folder, by the way, to make the mod?

    I´ve already tried all the possibilities like the one u said and still won´t work. I did actually install it in my laptop the same way I´m doing in my pc and it worked xD, don´t know how. In my laptop my server starts perfectly but it doesn´t appear in the rfactor 2 server list. i think the problem the connection with steam, as you can see in the image where Matcher Status : Not Connected to Steam. All the required ports are open and I did the required changes in Multiplayer.json so I don´t know what to do know. I will try to run the server from the rfactor 2 game directory and ask a friend to see if it works, so i can figure out if the problem is with steam or with the ports/my internet.

    Yes I´m using the one in the dedicated folder and it is installing the mods in the installed folder of the dedicated server. I have donde the same process im doing in my laptop and it worked, so I guess its just my pc that is doomed

    What is a vmod? if it is a mod created with the MAS tools selecting vehicles and tracks then yes.

    You need to have a static IP not CGNAT for it to work aswell.

    @Klopeck64 how are you starting the server? Are you using a shortcut with the "Start in:" folder set to your server's root folder?
