Awesome Goodwood videos this year.

This is getting absurd now...

I was watching a bit of qualifying and it doesn't seem like these guys are fighting the cars so there must have been something wrong with the cars that are crashing. These guys just go flat out with a bit of steering through the turns.

Carpenter's crash was by far the scariest. He even clipped the fence. Nasty.

It seems a given that we're gonna see at least one car upside down in the race.
With a stampeding field of cars around me I wouldn't want to go upside down or sideways in a race situation that's for sure.

The aero kits seem to not be able to handle the cars going backwards into the wall.
Indycar dialing back the cars a bit won't help much seeing how Newgarten and Castroneves ran in race trim when they had their flips.

Yeah, this one was today so I'm pretty sure it's the race package as well. Hinch needed surgery after the crash. I just hope the drivers are safe for the race, I don't have much faith in Indy car at the moment.

Something on his suspension broke, that's why he went straight into the wall. Indy car has no tech inspection or what? Crazy. Flat out around this track is just silly IMO.

That is a sickening crash... Reports suggest that he hit the wall at 222 mph/357 kph.
The car hit at such a bad angle. I'll bet the suspension went through the chassis and hurt his leg. Any news on how bad the injury is?

I don't know man... after these serious practice accidents, I think most people have a very bad feeling about the race itself.

Edit:

Hinchcliffe's leg was pierced by the car's right front rocker and the piece of equipment needed to be removed, according to two people familiar with the crash who spoke on condition of anonymity because IndyCar and Schmidt Peterson Motorsports were not releasing details of the injury. The surgery was also needed to stop massive bleeding.

Damn, looks like Hinch won't be in a racing car for awhile. I'm sure a lot of the drivers scared, I don't remember seeing anything like this before.

Hinch is lucky to even be alive, it seems...

From racer.com:

(...) according to one of Hinchcliffe's associates who asked not to be identified when speaking with RACER, it was a life-threatening situation that was handled to perfection by IndyCar's HOLMATRO Safety Team, and by doctors inside the ambulance that rushed him to IU Health Methodist Hospital before surgeons completed the save.

In the impact, which flattened the right side of the chassis, one of the suspension wishbones penetrated the Dallara safety cell, and subsequently caused the majority of the physical damage Hinchcliffe received. RACER has confirmed through multiple sources that Hinchcliffe had the steel wishbone enter and exit his right leg, then enter his upper left thigh, and continue into his pelvic region before it came to a stop.

The suspension component pinned the 28-year-old in the car, leading the safety team to cut the wishbone from the chassis to allow Hinchcliffe's extraction.

With the multiple intrusions, Hinchcliffe experienced massive blood loss at the crash site, and despite the gravity of the soft tissue injuries to his lower extremities, stopping the bleeding became an immediate priority for the medical staff to address once he was pulled from the chassis.

After being placed in the ambulance, the doctors and technicians inside evidently stabilized Hinchcliffe's injuries. It's not known how long he was in surgery but it was "touch and go" for a while, according to the source.
