I love the memories the two Trans Am mods by Storm Gang Simulations evokes, but I always felt the modern cars were not 'modern' enough. The myriad of Trans Am categories are confusing, but thanks to GROK, I think I found my answer. The class modded currently is the TA2 class. However the top class is TA. The TA class, at least the 2025 version, features 850hp cars with 5speed sequential transmissions and NoLiftShift.(the ONLY electronic aid allowed) In contrast, the mod provided is TA2, which uses a 4 speed H pattern transmission and engines producing about 200 less HP. Tires and suspensions of the TA2 mod seemed to more closely align with the Golden Age cars than cars competing in more recent times. Trans Am is more of a Club these days with either very old or VERY VERY young drivers(there is a14 year old this year at Sebring) I'm assuming they may have series in other parts of the world, Australia perhaps? Is TA do-able?
Is TA1 doable? Yes. Would it be done... probably doubtful. TA2 is very well replicated by StormGang. It is essentially a spec series. Things are very cost controlled. Spec transmissions, tires, brakes, limited approved engine builders, etc. Full breakdown here. https://gotransam.com/transam101/TA2-Class/59344. TA2 has an Australian series. TA1 is a lot more open. I just watched a video over the weekend where there are still chassis being built. It is a lot more like the previous generation NASCAR chassis. . I believe that this rule set is the same as the SCCA GT-1 rules. There isn't many cars out there for this at the moment. TA1 is uniquely American. I'm not aware of it being raced anywhere else. I would be happy to see these cars in rF2, I don't think the demand is there and there isn't many people that would be able to mod these. Closest we could get is a conversion, with some stockcar type physics. I know there is an AC mod that used models from different sources.
