In rF1 you could put your engine sounds into a main engine folder for your mod eg
    sounds/mymod/V8engine
    sounds/mymod/V6engine
    sounds/mymod/4cylinder

Can I do that in rF2?
or do I have to use
    sounds/V8engine
    sounds/V4engine
    sounds/4cylinder

The mas2.exe does not accept folders!

How do I setup multiple engine folders?

It sounds to me like you may create a multi component, the difference would be to use several separate folders instead of being subfolders, but you could always use wise naming ;)

I guess that I can put all of the engine sounds in one folder
sounds/mymod and put V8,V6 and 4cylinder in there.

Yes, that sounds good, and pack them all into a single MAS file; don't know if they could be splitted in several MAS files but in same folder:confused:

I manage ths like your proposal :
    sounds/V8engine
    sounds/V4engine
    sounds/4cylinder

And make one Sound package for each engine, use a prefix from you mod to be clean.
Package name = Folder name when used = MyModV8Engine

In your SFX, you will put MyModV8Engine for folder name.
