Released McLaren Historical Racecars!

I am not up to date with all the intricacies of these new cc ars from s397 but it the MP4/8 was semi automatic in real life, why is it being pushed to use automatic upshifting in the Sim? What have I missed?
You can disable auto shifting in the car's setup, kind of like with the F-V10 in AMS.

Great job on the cars.. MP4/8 my favorite F1 car of all time ... now we a need proper skins for it with some yellow helmet.
Makes up for the disappointment Le mans wasn't the track announced;)

We also need a proper modern ConteMarlo track.

Great details:D

This pack is pure win.
The M23 drives beautifully, like the March and Brabham to which it feels very similar, very pliable chassis allowing one to exploit the physics on the brake and throttle.
The MP4/8 is probably my favorite car, that's ironic seeing as I like to blast the use of electronics in race cars.
It just feels really nice to drive.
Of course I lived through that era so I am quite amused by the description, the only thing legendary about that car was it's driver.
Sure enough it lacked power but the Williams had a better chassis still.
The MP/13 on the other hand feels like one would expect from a modern F1 car(!), but still offers a good mechanical feeling, compared for example to FR3.5 that's just aero.
I love how these 3 cars offer 3 completely different experiences and not in an artificial way just for the sake of variety, they really seem to be a quite accurate representation of their real-world counterparts, to the extent of our couch-potato knowledge of course.
Another thing I really welcome about the MP4/8 is that this is a relatively modern F1 car that most leagues can actually race.
There's only a few people ever interested in high performance, hardcore race cars so all these beautiful mods generally end up going to waste for many of us online racers.
This car though is really manageable and one can always increase the TC I guess if that's what they want to do to feel they are in control.
Finally I may get to race something-anything F1?

I miss the just the "WEST" on the F1

You're probably already aware, but just in case (or for others), West is a tobacco company. None of the cars released have tobacco sponsors included, luckily with the more modern cars they were in a time (or visited places) where tobacco sponsorship wasn't allowed so we can still have realistic liveries.

it's like the mp4/8 without "MARLBORO" is not good, i hope moders will add the real sponsors.

I'm getting a bug with the tyre wear animations for the MP4/8 and MP4/13.

Looks to me like the tread wear animation for both cars is using the sidewall wear textures.

Some screens:

Steps to reproduce:
Turn tyre wear for the session up to 7X and let the AI run a few laps, the effect should gradually appear after a couple of minutes of running.

My first impression.
Fresh rF2 installation, everything on default except of the difficulty/aids, where all is set to off, except of auto-clutch.
I like all 3 cars.
They all have good ffb, where the ffb of the MP4/13 could be a bit stronger.
I always feel what the car is doing and it is really fun to drive them.

There currently is only 1 thing that i don't understand.
It's again the mirrors, that can not be adjusted in the MP 23.
In both other cars, they can be adjusted.
What i don't understand @Marcel Offermans is, why that happens so often.
I wish there was a more constant state of quality when content gets released.

But as said, besides of that, i currently can say Good Job S397.

wont lie had to add a bit of the dreaded caster to give a little corner force in the 4/8 just a little more aligning torque. only a few notches.

Tested a little the M23 and didnt like much graphically speaking and maybe too easy to drive. Didnt like the soundd also. Ffb didnt impressed me but had no look in settings to see if i can improve the felling
Few laps with Mp4/13 and it seems better made but still nothing excepcional. Cannot say about mp4/8. Did not even tried yet
ps: did not find any m23 with that part behind driver head in "red" color (here in mu default settings looks like more orange)

As good as these new cars are I still prefer ASR for my F1 experience.
1/ A greater sense acceleration.
2/ The helmet view adds a huge amount of immersion in VR.

I'm not saying S397 versions arent good it's just my preference.

Plus I can adjust the mirrors on the MP4/8 but wasn't able to get them to a point where I could see cars coming up from behind. I'd like a "Mirror set up screen" to set the mirrors without going out on track. Maybe as simple as a garage with a test pattern on the back wall or a picture of cars coming up behind?

I loved the M23, jumped into the MP4/13 and crashed everywhere, switched to the MP4/8 and enjoyed that (though the auto box took some getting used to).
