Ok well I have run it again and both cpu stay at 4.42Ghz now :) not sure what was happening before.

if anyone wants the SLI profile i have been using, tell me how to attach it, or where to upload it please?

Nice. Intersting though that the 3.0 vs 2.0 improvement takes a slight hit with SLI vs single.

DrR1pper, SLI results mean nothing due to the broken 2D-SLI scaling. Remember? Unless it's being run in 3D, then the SLI results essentially mean nothing.

I remember that but that shouldn't matter in this case because we're not comparing 2d to 3d sli performance here. He should still be seeing the same +22% improvement (as single card performance improvmeent) in pci-e 3.0 vs 2.0 when in 2d-sli mode.

Oh ya, true true. Good point. Even if the scaling is messed-up, there may still be some improvements just from the whole PCI thing. You're totally correct, my bad.

If the CPU overhead is the problem here, then Mantle is the cure.

I have my own test settings with different cars on differenz tracks. As i said before, the GPU load is @100%. With a lack of bandwidth it would not be possible. Maybe i have to say that i use a triple screen setup, but with reduced settings, to reach nearly 60fps at every time.

I don't know but don't think anyone's checked CPU utilisation differences (if any) between single vs SLI setups in rf2. My guess is no difference but I could be wrong.

CPU overhead is not the problem at all, in fact it's quite clear that CPU speeds - at least in the single player benchmark this thread is based on - make hardly any difference. I get no difference with my 4930K at 3.2 GHz VS 4.5 GHz.

    Read the OP :)

But have you compared CPU utilisation differences between single and SLI for the same clock speed?

So if for example he getting only +17% instead of +22% with 3.0 vs 2.0, maybe it CPU speed affects only present themselves when more than one gpu is being used?

Just throwing out possible ideas for the inclnsistency in performance gain from 2.0 to 3.0 with SLI vs single.

    Nice fps lol

When you post Simon, click the " Go Advanced" tab bottom right of page.

In the top tool bar far right is " Attachments"

Or you can scroll further down the page to "Additional Options" and click the tab " Manage Attachments"

Thanks but it doesn't seem to want to accept .nip profile files?

I dont see any inconsistency in performance regarding whether you gain from PCI-E 3.0 @ 16x or not. All I see is a thread with a ton of people reporting the same thing, that PCI-E 3.0 @ 16x gives a mysteriously large framerate gain, unlike just about any other PC video game, in rFactor 2 regardless of triple screen, single screen, SLI, single GPU, 2160p, 1440p, 1080p, 2D, 3D, SLI, etc...I'm not sure what else there is to prove...

Project Cars also has a huge increase in frames from 2.0 to 3.0, for me anyway?
that's the only two games i have tried so far?

anyway here is the profile I have been using :)

    Interesting, how much?

Maybe you could do the same, take a BTCC car at silverstone and let the ai drive 1 outlap. :)

I'D LIKE TO RESURRECT THIS THREAD AS OF RFACTOR 2 BUILD 982

Please report results of rFactor 2 PCI-E differences. I would love to know if this strange anomaly still happens with rFactor 2. Tests can be done in any way - 1x GPU, multi-GPU, 1x monitor, 3x monitor, etc. Remember, you can set your PCI-E slots to PCI-E 2.0 instead of 3.0 in your BIOS.
    2.0 @ 16x = 3.0 @ 8x.
    2.0 @ 8x = 3.0 @ 4x
    etc.

    I don't think that your issue is pci-e 2.0 16x
You get 30fps, getting additional ~20% as suggested by others would be just a small increase in your FPS. You need at least 200% improvement. Something is not right, do you run with everything full? I have noticed that setting shadows and shadow blur to max drops ~70FPS to ~30FPS on 770GTX. You should be able to get a playable amount of FPS (at least 60) with the default graphic settings (which has lightning, shadows toned down) with your resolution and 4x AA.

I have shadow on max and shadow blur disabled (because it create strange artifact), even with shadow on hight i have big problem.
