Marussia MR01 GP Car v1.0 Released

The car is overheating too easy... After a formation lap the car has to stand still for a few seconds. When the race starts all cars smoke for a half lap at least... Just experienced this online a few minutes ago.

Check the weather settings. A lot of tracks have a default temperature at 45 deg Celsius.

I think it`s a bug/graphical glitch that should get sorted up with the next MR01 update as I recall Tim saying he didn`t have it as they have more recent builds etc than we do.

Hopefully it gets fixed up soon along with another couple of small bugs...

thanks TJC! did see the logo nose being placed somewhere else and the stripe that was upside down, did not read that Tim did not have a problem with it with the new builds or MR01 update. In that case I will wait patiently:)

:)

I`ve actually not checked for a while but it`s a strange one anyway as I did have the bug but it was barely visible for me. It was there but it was so red I could hardly see it whilst for others it appeared quite black...

Well to be fair, the background is black, the other color is white, it makes it stand out a little bit more I guess, I don't know:rolleyes: I put it up here so ISI can see, now there is nothing more to do than wait;)

Don't like it one bit. The thing lifts wheels like a Clio. Did I get a different build or something? Also, could someone explain this behavior? This is something I've felt in every car here in rf2 except the historics - they drive like they have three wheels. This car just confirmed my thoughts.

And yes, this is on 156. Brakes are overly sensitive to the point of being more useful with super low pressures, such as 60% pressure. I dunno, it feels very unnatural to me that tires lock with as little as 10% force applied. It's a weird system, it's not as linear as I'm used to, even a little is hugely alot, and more is way too much, rather than actually progressive and linear like it should be.

5 percent pressure gets 50 percent braking - that is how it feels. The rest of the travel is the last 50 percent braking power. Am I missing a setting here?

But, it does actually look passable! I also really like the feel it has under power. Corrections feel and look like they should. The brakes though are just... very odd.

This problem seems to be largely solved for me in the latest build (198). I still lock my inner front tire on braking but it does not remain locked through the whole corner anymore. The feeling of the car seems to have changed slightly as well. I have a little more confidence now in slow corners. I prefer this version much more.

Hey TJC, when you select full details (when i make skins i have it that high) it shows the bug real well, when I drive I have it at medium, than it hardly shows. that explains at least the difference between different people.

That may very well explain it for some indeed ifrans...

I usually have my details at full too (been skinning a little bit lately myself) but still didn`t notice it much.

Maybe a graphics card thing too?

I`m nvidia...

You re both overdriving the tires. Find a better balance with your style and the setup and try to drive a smoother line with less rear wheelspin, otherwise your tires are ruined withtin minutes ;).
easy to say but how to do that... with less rear wheelspin...

Just try to be smooth on corner exit, dont use too much throttle then.
We cant drive like idiots anymore, its a hard change but definately way more realistic.

The vacuum is just a by-product of shutting the throttle. Engine braking is caused or achieved by compression of the inlet gasses. Shutting the throttle stops the fuel going in so there's no 'bang'.

Finally some sence. about brake mapping ie: compression braking,

The easiest way to reduce that damaging rear wheelspin is to be gentle on the throttle until you can straighten the wheel. That's what I always try to focus on: get the car as straight as possible, as quickly as possible before flooring the throttle, so the tyres aren't under big cornering loads anymore whilst accelerating. These micro-drifts you get so easily when exiting a slow corner have a big effect on tyre temps. It's much more damaging in terms of temperature than a bit of forward wheelspin. You can get away with that and the tyre will have an easier time trying to cool down. Think of it as two vectors being added to each other.

So if you're exiting a slowish corner and get that typical oversteery moment when you put the power down, you know the tyres have been punished more than they like. Have those little moments at the exit of each corner, and the tyre will be ruined after a lap or two.
