[WIP] Lotus 95T (F1 1984)

    Hello!

    Me and @ChiefWiggum haven been working Lotus 95T last month or two.

    Got myself VR headset too, so taught would be cool to test the mod same time. Sorry for bad quality, as I had to use LOW settings to make good FPS while recording.


    Using rain tires as the track was bit wet.

    Car has all the latest rF2 technology (including true turbo simulation)

    Hoping to release this car soon. Some little bugs need to be fixed before release.

    Great work on the 95 though. I look forward to a nice rip around the track with this one. :cool:

    On another note, I would limit x,y,z movement for the headset, like no farther than you could stick your neck out. In real racecars, the seatbelts usually keep you pretty planted, not much in the name of movement.

    I was actually doing some laps yesterday with the F1 75 mod, which is my favorite OW mod.
    Everything that comes from you guys is great news!! Looking forward to it

    Great will it have selectable turbo level mappable to a hardware knob (or up / down buttons ) ?

    Problems if pushed to hard at higher turbo levels ?

    Not exactly sure how it works with VR, I have an IR headset and FreeTrack, and the software allows you to edit the sensitivity and range of motion. The way mine is set, I have 180 degrees side to side, about 50 degrees up an down, and about 15 degrees of roll. I have x,y,z set to 0.1 sensitivity so the screen doesnt move any farther than you could move your head while strapped into a 5 point.

    Below is an example. My settings for rF2 is more like 1.0, 0.5, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, and smoothing just adds latency so I keep it below 20, and it works well because my webcam is 720p.

    Yes there is adjustable turbo pressure and higher values will use more fuel and engine wear will be higher.
    1984 teams had problems with fuel running out so they had to keep eye on fuel levels whole race (refueling was not allowed) so this mod will try to simulate that best it can.
    Qualifying boost pressure is also available, but engine lasts max 10 laps

    That looks frightening. Nice work!

    How's VR for you? And which headset did you get? I tried a cheap phone one once for a few minutes and I felt very nauseous for the next 6 hours, which kind of put me off. Not sure if I'm not compatible, or if it was just because it was a cheap phone one.

    Im quite sure that kind of solution is not good enough for sim racing. I have used DK2 I got around 100€. It's not good, but gets me started with VR in simracing.

    It's expensive though. Can't really justify spending so much if I might end up getting motion sickness or disoriented from it. Perhaps I'll look into used ones.
