Usually, (I know, this is rF2 we are talking about) Often, when a computer is taking a lot longer to complete a task, be it loading a program, booting, whatever, the delay is caused by some program expecting a handshake from somewhere off in the backwaters of the internet. So the offending app/program waits and waits for the expected reply.
Yes, for instance some people brought RTX2080Ti may have settled on 650W PSU which is not enough now.
We are talking here about the time from double-clicking the Desktop shortcut to getting to the rF2 "Click to Start" message? Or from clicking the "Play" button in Steam? How long does this actually take?
Hello , This may be due to an "unnecessary" or "optional" driver. I just don't dare just delete one of them. I also can't tell which of them is just "optional". There are an incredible number of drivers. I have shown a few of them in the photo And yes, I have a completely new computer and not just an update from Win10 to Win11.
The funny thing is that when I first got rfactor2 on my new gaming computer which was probably a year and a half ago it also took a long time to load, I did exclude it from Windows defender and don't have an installed virus software, the fiber optic internet runs scans, rfactor2 eventually started to load faster the more I used it, I don't remember having to make any other changes. I do remember it being a problem for a while though, I was loving rfactor2 so I was everyday using it, if your just trying it here and there, maybe?, sounds funky but keep on loading it. I did also disable some startup programs. From when I right click and click open I have 52 seconds until I get to CLICK TO START.
B650 - 7800X3D - 32GB 6000 C30 Mine is half that ( 25-26 seconds) I have a Gen5 SSD. My rF2 folder is only 225GB as except for DLC I unsubscribe and archive everything else. Slow up comes from engine process, more content the slower it gets as every time it starts it checks the manifests etc. When you delete player then if you delete shaders tracks will boot slower first time. Another problem is dropping out of big session it can hang. Something LMU has solved in droves I can do 4 hour Lemans and drop back to menu in a few seconds. It used to hang worse then rF2. rF2 grey screens for a minute sometimes for me, depends on content, format, etc. Another thing can be slow is rfmods. To uninstall big ones can make mod manager lag really bad. Like if I have to uninstall 6 rfmods to update I just highlight the lot and go make a cuppa.
Is this a shop install or fresh OS ( delete partitions for C:\ ) do you need bitlocker ? Is everything in Device Manager installed correctly no ? marks Have you installed W11 24H2 from a fresh media tool ? Is this hard drive partitioned or is Steam on C:\ Screenshot you posted not much use really. Try doing one of Processes Below is my rFactor2 running and all apps Idle rF2 in session
I have rfactor2 on a 2tb ssd with a lot of content, plus I got the Pro LMU subscription which loaded my rfactor2 up with any content that I was missing or didn't purchase, I didn't check the folder size.
I have had anomalies before were rF2 could take much longer to load hanging on a black screen for no apparent reason but usually after editing rfmods and the like. The only real way to tell is to install fresh copy and test default. From my recollection it was very fast maybe 15 seconds. Also tested with and without the all tracks and cars manifest. For me without is faster. I put it in a GME mod and only activate when I need to look at full list of content. All my content is included within 25 rfmods.
My very old (+10 years) HP Pavilion desktop with an AMD A10 processor, 16Gb RAM fitted with a GTX1030 instead of the integrated GPU running Windows 10 loads up rF2 in around 25 seconds.
Like I always said, it's all about the processes. To load my 25 rfmods in one hit takes about 5 seconds. To disable them takes 1-3 minutes. What hard drive ? SSD all you really need is 500mb/s for sims.
Hello everyone , Thank you very much for all of your support and tips. But now I'll tell you something: Due to a situation, I connected another television where the view adjustment in Win11 was set to the recommended 300% in terms of scaling. And on the television I usually use, I once set the scaling to 200%. I was surprised why all the simulations on the “replacement television” suddenly started so quickly or returned to normal. And then I simply set the scaling on my standard television to 300% and lo and behold: everything works perfectly. OMG, who would have thought that was the cause...
Is that normal ? My Samsung NeO QLED 4K 144Hz is set to 150% which I think is perfect for 43" Although I don't use it for sims as a rule though sometimes I run test sessions in 4K on it with rF2 / LMU and always have comparative fps as my rig 3440x1440 144Hz @ 100% My big issue is using extend and swapping #1 monitor. I mean some old apps and stuff I can't get back unless I run same config then move them to other screen close them shut one monitor and open them again. W11 does not remember 1/2 the windowed positions for sim apps, hopeless.
Off topic, but select apps in the taskbar and use windows + arrows (keys) to move them to your visible screens. I’m using HDMI for audio and sometimes it sends things to that “other” screen.
Thanks Lazza, will give that a go. I use a Batchrun shortcut that opens 8 sim programs, 4 positions are never saved. ( Bandicam, OpenTrack, SimDashboard and OVGME ) Steam, Crew Chief, SimHub and Fanatec software always open same position. P.S. SimHub is for rumble motors and Dashboard for tablet. I setup Nvidia HMDI but rarely use it. I also run one DP 1.4a and one HDMI 2.1 cable. I mean it's not a biggie before the 8 have loaded I can usually have shifted them to correct position. Yes I thought about leaving them where they always land but I can't put the other 4 in the spare space. lol
