Hello everyone , After I upgraded my computer and switched from Windows 10 to Windows 11, it takes forever until rF2 starts. By this I don't mean the loading time in the game (vehicles and track) but the start of the game in general. Does anyone know the problem and a good solution? The phenomenon also occurs with AC, among other things. It must be Windows 11 because the hardware is significantly better than before. Thank you very much in advance for your tips
Try deleting Config_DX11 in rFactor 2\UserData. Start rFactor 2. Set resolution and refresh rate if needed. From my experience doing 100's of installs W10 and W11 boot sims the same.
First thought would be antivirus, are you running a third party package or just windows defender? Might be worth generating a trace file and see what the game logs during startup, may identify some content issues.
If you think AV is the issue then just exclude all the sim exes. Although I use Malwarebytes premium, I exclude nothing and no slow boots. P.S. I often will have slow ISIMotor boots if for instance I have changed video drivers using the same DXconfig.ini. Resetting ( deleting) it always works. DXconfig.ini has a video driver ID......... if it's not reset well ... Even if you used the same driver version it is 2 OSes.
I have Kaspersky on the computer just like before, that can't be the problem. But I excluded the exe file. And the Config_DX11 file was also deleted. Unfortunately, neither measure achieved anything. Anyway, thanks for your help, maybe someone else has an idea
See the top screenshot here, you add a command to the launch options for rF2: https://forum.studio-397.com/index.php?threads/how-to-create-a-trace-file.62304/ Then preferably you attach the trace (complete) here. It may indicate what it's spending time on, or any content (/issues) that might be causing delays.
I've now tested that too: unfortunately no change. rF2 , AMS2 and AC for example (and Steam itself) takes about 3X as long to start as under Win10. In the games themselves, the performance is significantly better than under Win10 with 10900K and 2080ti . Now I have Win11 with 7800x3d and 4080 Super
I can honestly say imho that is not right from my experience at least what I can remember. However I have to admit I have not loaded W10 in a longtime. Can someone still dabbles with both confirm either way. W11 is very intrusive, I turn basically all it's features, settings off, uninstall, disable, remove all crap. Maybe try a fresh OS ( install offline is simple ) Do all your "tower hardware" drivers and absolutely no apps tools or security whatsoever Don't install sim apps or wheel drivers ...idea is to do this as quickly as possible on dead stock W11 Now just run Steam and sims any difference ? One thing I not sure about is you never said if you did a fresh OS or online upgrade which could have issues.
Tested what? Activating trace files doesn’t fix issues, but they can help diagnose. Can you attach a trace file here?
It's not win11, I have AC, ACC, Rfactor2, Lemans Ultimate and they all start up properly. Do exclude the Sims in your anti-virus and Windows Defender.
dont know if you wont to try this, it is fairly straightforward (i use it) you could see if its the operating system that is the problem.
It's NOT W11, it load fine for me. Have you tried steam "Verify integrity of game files" check... I would start with that and second if nothing works is reset your KS antivirus... i.e. Delete rules and let KS re-set them... (I had issues with in the past). I would stay way from dual boot. (IMO that's asking for trouble if your don't know what you are doing with a PC).
Hello , Thank you very much for your tips. I've tried pretty much everything but nothing helped. And of course I installed a completely new Win 11 and all Racing simulations too. The following occurs permanently (but no longer with AC): + AMS2, rF2, R3E take forever to start. Terminating too. + Even Steam takes much longer to start than under Win10 + R3E: after I press break and then want to continue the race, it takes forever until I can continue. + R3E: After four rounds of racing at the latest, the game just stalls and is no longer playable. FYI: All hardware checks show no errors. Does anyone know what I can do now?
make sure to update all the MB drivers. How many NVMe M.2 drives you have installed?.confirm with the MB manual it's not affecting your GPU performance. it could be a hardware setup issue... I would double check how you have everything plug in the MB.
I had encountered similar issue with win10 some years ago, which one day the system appeared to be extremely slow when accessing any data on hard disk (ex. took a few minutes just to open an image file). And the cause of this issue was due to one of the "optional driver" update that called "Intel - System" that some how got automatically installed from Windows Update setting, which took me a lot time to track this issue down (there were quite few reports about this from search engine). After uninstalled this optional driver update, my system was able to return to normal and no more system-wide slow down issue. So it could be a good idea to check your Windows Update setting and updates history list and see if similar optional driver was installed recently.
..,.and that's why my suggestion was to test a fresh OS OFFLINE use the oobe\bypassnro work around. This makes it impossible for Bill to update anything. I myself got 5 new driver updates never seen before W11 24H2 Sandisk external SSD Found Areca Technology LG monitor "software component" Found windows catalog LG monitor " extension " Not found anywhere Realtek "Killer Net " Found windows catalog SIM 3D - updated driver Found windows catalog
Your saying you upgraded, is it that you purchased a brand new computer with windows 11 or you upgraded your old computer, and if you upgraded your old computer, what didn't you replace or upgrade.
