One of the great tracks for rF1 was Longford... I think it would make a very nice circuit in rFactor 2. I'm not a track builder, but if I knew how, I might consider this as a worthy project...
Sorry to have missed this post earlier. I'm working on it, albeit using rF1. New rF1 release very soon. rF2 will follow. Link includes notes about upcoming version, fresh screenshots, urls for fresh videos http://rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Longford%201967 Playlist for new Longford videos http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2YLp9oalQ1-wCcp2dzIxFwMjUxS_XMl0&feature=mh_lolz
Fantastic news... I am really looking forward to this... I still drive the rF1 version of this circuit, and I am really looking forward to the upadate, "face lift," and I am excited to hear that it will come to rF2. Thank you for sharing this information.
Hi everyone, Without meaning to turn this into an rF1 release thread... Well, let's say it's an rF2 WIP post for rFactor 1: Longford 1967, version 0.99 (~330mb). http://www.gamefront.com/files/22479625/Longford+1967+v0.99+[20121019].7z There will be an rFactor2 version in the near-ish future! Some things that are new in 0.99: - New building models: Pub, Tannery, Barn on Tannery Straight, Pit Straight Foot Bridge, food stall and toilets. - New object models: starter's drum, start finish signs, small camera/spectator towers, culverts/drains, wire fence panels and gates, fuel/oil drums/barrels, aluminium/timber sponsor boards, small toolboxes, oil cans. - Many more polygons in road (~rF2 specification @ ~1.5m squares = 6 panels wide X ~1.5m long). Bumps are geometry, no TDF bumps. - Many more polygons in road-side terrain. - Animated flags and bunting. - New grass clump textures. More grass clumps. - New and more car models (spectators, race entrants waiting in paddock, ambulance). - Higher-res bush textures (most of them). - New gravel textures. - New water texture (thanks cgtextures.com ) - Added/redone spec and/or normal mapping on a few things. - Less 2D 'bush walls', more 3D/X-plane bushes. probably other things too... such as: - Return of the rainy and overcast versions. - Flying Mile has been realigned and is more accurate than ever. - Kink near the end of Tannery Straight now has a more accurate elevation profile. - King's Bridge now has more even arch/hump. - My first ever sky textures (dawn, day (lightly cloudy & overcast), sunset, night (blank) - New photo horizon. - Scratch-made wet road textures, inc. my first ever cube map - 'Helicopter' camera set (Group 4). - New white painted fences (start area, viaduct, bridges etc). - Fewer shadows here and there, should improve performance a little. - More detail on external road (opposite the pub). - New tram model in the paddock (Used as race control in the '50s & subsequently as the police headquarters during race weekends - Originally Launceston's Tram #4) Sunshine http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_000.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_002.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_004.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_006.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_007.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_013.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_014.jpg Overcast http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_023.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_025.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_030.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_032.jpg Rain http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_042.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_044.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_046.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_049.jpg http://s84.photobucket.com/albums/k17/woochoo/Longford v0-99/?action=view¤t=GRAB_056.jpg And the videos, featuring the '67 Dan Gurney Eagle (which was never anywhere near Longford, but it's probably the most similar drive to a Tasman car available in rFactor) One lap, Gurney Eagle, sunny One lap, Gurney Eagle, cloudy One lap, Gurney Eagle, rainy -Sunset, one slow lap - -Sunny, 4 laps (onboard / trackside) - -Cloudy, 2 laps (onboard / chase) - -Rainy, 2 laps (onboard / chase) - Hope you enjoy
What do we need rF2 for, when rF1 can look so great!? Fantastic job. Hope we will be able to drive this in rF2 in the future
Thanks for the compliments eyeryone If all things go reasonably according to plan, you will be able to, and there will be model and texture updates, as well as the new rF2 things The road mesh is already up to spec re: poly size
Hello woochoo, Thought I might check in and see how things are going for you...and for your project. I am looking forward to seeing Longford.
Ah, well better late than never I guess... Thanks for your interest Longford rF2 is coming along pretty well. I've just released v1.0 for rF1, and have started an rF2 wip thread here on the ISI forums. So, for reference/redirection, from now on all the info will be in the wip thread
