I think they cleared the cows out of that pasture because people keep parking race cars there temporarily...

alternate truth: I did try some cows, but they came out looking like real cows. I wish ISI could put some time into the shiny cow shader like the other studios have years ago.
actual truth: It seems it's mostly sheep in the paddocks in the area. If everything else is complete, you will get sheep... and fish :)

Yesterday I drove the ~170km journey to Longford, took nearly 1500 photos (mostly of trees - it was a bit windy...) and then drove 170km back.
    Some non-tree photos:
Turn 2, transformed into a bypass road:

The exit of Tannery Corner (everyone's favorite paddock is over the left shoulder of the photographer, the left-hander onto Long Bridge is over the crest (the bridge is long gone):

Partway down the Flying Mile, that might be the original race surface under two more modern layers of tarmac:

    Lol.

The OP says the latest version is from 2013-08-19 (0.92), but there is an updated version that came out yesterday 2014-10-28??...

EDIT: Nevermind, it's an in progress changelog of a coming update. Got it :)

Amazing dedication man! We are getting spoiled that's for sure. :)

Oh, and if there won't be any cows, at least make sure the sheep are shiny sheep. :D

    - Trees: New textures for willow trees.

Well, here is confirmation that 0.97 will have new textures for the willow trees. They are/were the least-good, so that's one less thing to worry about.
At this moment those three new willow textures aren't finalised, but they're in-game and things are looking good, and hopefully they don't need more than a few more hours tweaking.
I won't (/don't expect I'll) have the time/motivation to redo the other trees for the upcoming version.

Everyone who has dabbled in modding has ended up making a texture or two... any chance you would describe the process you are experiencing while updating the willow trees?

If you meant "can you write a quick guide", I'll say yes, because I just did.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/21748521/treetextures_quickstartguide_woochoo_2014-10-31.pdf

If you meant, "how much do you enjoy redoing all your old work, especially trees, which are a pain, and especially willows which have heaps of distinct and thin leaves", then I say, "I wish I had done a perfect job the first time and finished this whole project years ago" :)

Shiny sheep and cows aren't good enough anymore, rFactor 2 needs NVidia Hairworks "real" fur/hair rendering tech on it's wolves and bears in order to compete with all the other "hardcore" sims on the market.

Oh man, like, totally. I needs me some realistic wolf hair to be able to get in da zone. Oh, and for James Dean's hair in the Panoz! Would look so great for when I make screenshots. :D
