Using @SharD 's skin as a base. I have the #25 Willy T Ribbs car complete. Suit and helmet done as well. I'll see if I can get a couple other T89 done, as I'm feeling up to it (been sick the last week or so).
Ah, lovely, Chris. I got a few others as well. Let me know if you want them, then I'll upload them on racedepartment. The Granatelli cars are on the wrong chassis.
Go ahead and upload what you have. Weather you want it to be on RD or privately. I'll attempt to update what I can. Personally, I'm ok with putting the Penske PC-18 skins on the PC-19. There appears to be a minor nose, cockpit and the sidepod winglet change. Very minor from what I can see. I'm not sure if Chief is doing any further updates. Finding old logos has been very difficult. I've started work on the Jeff Wood car. Just not finding the logos. I just found a new gallery, which has been pretty good https://library.revsinstitute.org/a...dy Car Valvoline Detroit Grand Prix^all^and/1 @ChiefWiggum, I'm sending you the couple files and updates that I have. I just found a rear shot of the Newman Hass cars. So the rear wing has been updated. Included is the Willy T Ribbs files. Note, he didn't qualify for the Indy 500 that year, so no Oval skin.
Not sure if Chief is planning to make another car for this mod, but if not, I think it should be possible to finish the entire field by using the T89 and the PC19. As the comicozzie site has shown, all the Lola teams swapped to the T89 later in the season. I updated the resource with the missing skins: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/cart-1990-additional-skins.54895/
While I do think the cars have a bit too much grip, I think the braking is too high. From the Lola Heritage site for the T90/00: http://www.lolaheritage.co.uk/2018/type_numbers/t90-00/t90-00.html Brakes: Latest pattern Brembo hydraulic 4-piston 'machined from solid' calipers acting on 1.1" thick x 12.6" diameter vented cast-iron disks. The cars seem to feel like they have F1 type brakes. I haven't done a lot of tests or gotten information from the races, but I think a lot of the time/speed is gained in braking, not so much in grip. The Lola Heritage site has a lot of specific info on the T89/00 and T90/00. Chassis Setting sheets for most of the tracks. It would just seeing how much of that data is able to be transferred to rF2 format. A couple quick items. 1. Is there a Penske template available? 2. I noticed a bug with the Penske. I think the engine LOD setting is a little off compared to the rest of the cars. 3. I found posted by Gary Bettenhausen's son on Facebook, some pics of Gary's T89/00. Looks to be the reversed colors of Jim Crawford's car. They were teammates for Indy. Think you can do it? Otherwise, if you have a Crawford template available, I can make it pretty quick.
Thanks Chris, that makes sense, just the braking power. I wonder if it's also connected to downforce, where the cars are producing just a bit too much in road configuration? My suspicion is based on drag at various speeds. I ran at max F/R wing on a street circuit and on the medium-length straights was able to peak out at about 290 km/h. When I took the car out on Hockenheim '88 I brought the rear wing to the lowest setting (30 IIRC) and the front wing to about 5. With extending the gear ratios, raising the rear, and zeroing out the toe, I was able to just get about 314 km/h. Grip-wise the car was quite nimble at such low wing settings. I suspect the parasitic drag at higher speeds is such that the 700 or so horsepower cannot overcome it.
This part of the site has even better pictures of some of the missing cars. https://library.revsinstitute.org/cart-ppg-indy-car-mid-ohio/125179
Chief, I've tweaked the T90_damage.ini file, and the AI cars are no longer crashing out like they did anymore. You can actually race them now. And quite hard, too. You will also see the AI cars overtake each other often, again, without hitting each other, spinning or crashing out. Let me know if you want the file.
why you post always on Racedepartment, this file is not official and will not fit with the Steam Version
Because I have no other place to upload it. You can just take it from there and put it in your own mod if you like. I'll take it down again once you got it.
Can GTP-4 be used here for coding? make the whole process way faster to mod, update? I read it codes fast, like real fast. Ai coding could be the future? Or is this just wishful thinking?
take a picture, have windows make a 3d model, use the model as a laser scan base and the mod is done... sooooommmmmeeeeeday.
The technology is getting there. I do want to test this out. It isn't going to make a game ready model. But what it should do is get a model with all the correct dimensions, suspension pick up points, shape, etc. You would then use use as a baseline, modeling conventionally. You would then be able to put that data into the physics spread sheet, and in theory would be darn close. Looking good!
Oval racing works as well, as far as I can see. The cars are no longer having a "big one" before lap 2.
Is this the thread for the Cart 90 mod ? Been loving this, as always with Chief's work, it's first class. One small issue though I have is that I can't seem to change fuel in the pit stop, there is no menu selection that allows me to change it up or down, so I presume I get whatever value I had set in pit strategy ?
